Thank you!!! I can finally use the clay pot I bought years ago, with no instructions. I didn't even know the country of origin. My clay pot is the same as your demo pot. Your video was very informative and well presented. Thanks.

I have had a clay pot for years but still haven't used it. Your video has inspired me to finally cure it and cook your claypot rice dish. Thanks for this video.

Thank you for your instructional video. I bought my first clay pot today. Each time I use it, do I need to soak it for any amount of time before placing on the gas stove?
@eliasfamilykitchen45885 ай бұрын
Congrats on your first clay pot! You only need to soak and season it before using the first time. After that, there is no need to soak it before use. 😊

I purchase a clay pot similar to the large one you show in the video. I didn't know that I had to season it and whenever I cook something in it, it burns. Is there a way in which I can re-season it? Thank you and love your tutorial.

You can follow the same steps in this tutorial to re-season it. But this should have nothing to with food getting burned. What are you cooking? How are you cooking it? 😊

@@eliasfamilykitchen4588 Thank you for your response. I was trying to make the clay pot rice with chicken, Chinese sausage and rice. I would try to cook the rice in it until the broth boils and then I would add the chicken and Chinese sausage in after turning the fire down to medium-low. I have tried several times and still it burns at the bottom and the burn stains doesn't wash out even though I would soak the pot over night. No matter what I try the stains remain. I have even added oil into the pot in hopes that it would not burn but it still does. It's very frustrating. How do you keep the pot seasoned so things don't stick? Thank you very much for your advice.

@@baileyboo9365Ah, I see. Using oil to coat the bottom and lower the heat can help prevent burn marks. It does take some getting used to with clay pot. With burned marks, sometimes I have to soak it overnight and use a spoon to scrape it off. It’s OK if you cannot get all the burn marks off. It’s like staining on a stainless steel pan, it’s normal. As long as you get all the food residue off, the burn mark wouldn’t affect usage. Just ignore it and use it as usual. 😊

I was wondering if it is necessary to soak before the making the rice porridge? I received instructions on how to first use the pot but it is all in chinese so i came to your video for easier to understand instructions. The ones in my booklet didn’t say to soak the pot just to head straight to rice porridge? should i still do so? or are some pots not made to be soaked? 😅

my pot is also a bit different to both those you showed in the video it’s fully glazed but the base of the pot is unglazed and raw like the smaller one with metal u showed in the video. not sure if that changes the process or not 🫶
@eliasfamilykitchen45882 ай бұрын
Hi there! Congrats on your clay pot! The process I provided in the video works for all types of clay pot. Soaking will provide an extra step of protection for your clay pot. If you skip soaking, please make sure to start with very low heat when you cook the rice porridge. Happy cooking! 😊

they said glazed clay pots is more on lead content. is it true?
@eliasfamilykitchen4588Ай бұрын
Most of the clay pits available in the stores are glazed, even those that look like they have a matte finish. There are different types of glaze and layers of glaze. How it’s glazed makes a difference as well. Here’s an article from FDA on this topic: www.fda.gov/food/environmental-contaminants-food/questions-and-answers-lead-glazed-traditional-pottery. Hope it helps! 😊
