By the way, I took the survey but later I realized I should've also mentioned that I always love seeing new videos about Moral Orel, so if you have more on the brain about it, I personally would totally watch that!

Moral Orel was too much as kid but is beautiful as an adult. I lost my faith in God but love that Orel keeps his faith despite the struggles

I think that was one of the best decisions in the show. Not another downer ending with disillusionment and regret but just an appreciation for what you have right now it's exactly how you should deal with trauma it doesn't make you stronger the best you can do is unlearn the damage and continue grow positively we saw clay fail at this but we see orel succeed id like to acknowledge the fact that he was faced with the same exact circumstances as clay parental trauma, brain washing, and, religion yet despite being in that same situation he never faltered and still remained that good natured person some people might say he was just born that way he got lucky but I think it was the fact that he was guided and helped by others, is what led moral down a completely different path because I think the main difference was that clay was always alone whilst orel had people he could rely on. But that's just my two cents

I think clays sacrifice is a metaphor for the Roman Empire. How Clay/Jules Caesar sacrificed much of his happiness for his family but in reality only came to hurt and weaken it. Similarly to how Caesar sacrificed so much for the empire yet only came to weaken its institutions. With oral representing the Rome working class. His innocence and hard working nature. Just like the roman citizens. It’s clear if you continue to dig, how moral oral is just an metaphor for the beginning and end of the Roman Empire. But that is Beyond the scope of this KZbin comment.

i think that this is a good interpretation but not intentional from the writer’s perspective

The thing I've noticed about Clay. He talks about how he sacrifices his happiness for his family, but the thing is that it's just not true. He traded nothing for nothing.

Such a good series. I love how utterly crooked Clay is. Like, even if he did change his ways and become a better person I'm hardly rooting for it to happen. I love that the show helps us understand him but still makes sure we loathe him for how he treats everyone in his life (especially Orel)

Wow, you are covering some of my favorite series now. xD First Steven Universe NOW Moral Orel? Man, I'm so glad this show got some love after the fact. When it was airing it had a very small but passionate fanbase. Anyways, Clay is a very interesting character and probably could've done more interesting things had he not been so handicapped by his own self-loathing. I mean think about it, he was the Mayor of Moralton - he could've manipulated so much behind the scenes. Not only tormenting Orel in the home but outside it too. But he's so apathetic he just kind of goes along with whatever, kind of oblivious to the sort of power he has. I only wished the show could've had some more seasons that would've further explored Clay's relationship with his dying father and Orel's dynamic in that too. It's unfortunate that just when it felt the characters were getting deeper into their arcs and big character changes is when Adult Swim pulled the plug. We needed more of Orel finding his own way and growing into the person he wants to be. More of Clay spiraling and dealing with the walls falling around him - that sort of thing. But what we got was still pretty spectacular, shame we never got a sequel or reboot or whatever. But maybe it's best that way.

When the show first started, Clay was a normal yet funny loving father to Orel who always points him to the right directions, but ever since the camping episode, he changed into a bad narcissistic father who only cared about Danielle, and also became a bad influence on his own son.

Actually, the episodes leading to camp episode is when Clay starts becoming unraveled.
