excellent video! It's nice to see that someone loved these games! welcome to the fan community! As a Metal Gear Solid fan, you have no idea what a blessing this collection is. after many years of rumors and frustration because these games were inaccessible on most modern machines, Konami FINALLY returns not with a collection but also a collection series and a remake of MGS3! The Master Collection has a total of 11 games so its a huge collection for a Vol 1 and a good deal ! (not counting the Japanese versions, I count Metal Gear Solid Integral and Special Mission/VR Mission as different games because they were sold at the time as separate ) and that is so much fun to have it all on one disc! I had seen a lot of people criticizing it, but as a hardcore fan who pays attention to the different versions, I can tell you that this is the definitive version of these games! Konami is releasing patches to improve the experience (4K is expected) full of graphics bugs present in the old PS3 collection (yes MGS was a bit dead since around the end of PS3!!) have been patched! So, I'm so happy to see new people discovering the saga, thank you for this video ❤

I grew up on the MGS franchise, I still remember the trip home reading the MGS manual on the original playstation, which is my favorite game. Not to say it didn't keep getting better, it felt like an eternity waiting for the next game, playing them over and over to get that perfect playthrough with no kills and alerts. Enter MGS2, little did I know how scary the ending would be even to this day, this was before the internet really blew up, and the message is even truer today. MGS will forever be Kojima, how he wrote the story, the cinematics, eastereggs, 4th wall breaking, MGS without Kojima is like a Tarantino movie without Tarantino, it can't be done.

All the hype and excitement was justified. Such a unique and stunning gaming experience back then in '98.

The PS2 versions of 2 and 3 have excellent use of the pressure sensitive face buttons of the DualShock 2. For example, lightly pressing and holding the Square button would have Snake bringing his firearm in firing position, pushing the same button just a little more would result in Snake pulling the trigger. These games have so many weird little quirks which are so unique, its nice that you got to play them!

I have fond memories of the 90s and playing MEtAL GEAR SOLID was one of them - It was intense and extremely cinematic experience - Back then I had a portable SONY analogue TV, a PS1 and I was in my bedroom, everynight coming back from college. I remember the drama and the intensity, especially the telekenetic scene where you placed the PS1 controller onto the floor and one of the characters started moving it around. Kojima was a genius creator who thought out of the box, and nothing like it had been seen before in the gaming world. It made history. I love the entire Metal Gear Solid series - brilliant games with brilliant storylines.

When it comes to these 3 games, I don't think there is a single collection of games I've replayed more than the first three games of the metal gear solid series. For the longest time, the third game was my favorite of all time only to be dethroned by the Witcher 3...or Red Dead Redemption 2 depending on which I've played more recently. But man, I'm head over heels about this series and it's so cool to see someone experience them for the first time. I personally own all of these games on multiple platforms so I likely won't get that collection but I'm glad people have a way to get them on a modern platform.

Also ended up playing 3 again on 3DS (which got painful with that frame rate, particularly during boss fights) then a 3rd time on 3DS after discovering a mod to get it to a locked 30fps (only possible on New 3DS). FANTASTIC games.

Some more tips : -Unequpping and re-equipping weapons instantly reloads them, which is much faster than going through the reload animation, especially with shotguns and sniper rifles. Extremely useful for bossfights. -Multiple bosses in MGS3 are easier to staminakill than regular kill, especially the Fear. -Every boss except for the End in MGS3 drops their uniform if you stamina-kill them (you have to hold up the End 3 times for that, stamina-killing him nets you his stun sniper), each of them gives you an additional benefit. E.g. Volgin's uniform makes it so enemies don't fire at you when they look at you, which is a huge benefit (and a necessity at higher difficulties) for a fully non-lethal playthrough, the End's uniform recharges your stamina while in sunlight. -Cooking a (smoke-)grenade makes your footsteps not make any sounds in MGS3 for some reason.

If you every return to those games, espacially in MGS3, there is a lot, and I don't say it lightly, A LOT of easter eggs and stuff you can do.. if you blow up the food storage, the guard will go around hungry, if you throw poisonous animals to them, they will take damage. Some hidden first person part of cutscenes. Wile interrogating guards you can get information from them that might be useful, or just plainly tell you their radio channel for some jazzy music.. once you get access to another characters Cure-menu, you can check what they ate earlier.. to name a few. All three games is held dearly to me.. 1 for the atmosphere, 2 & 3 for the fun gameplay and 3 for the overall enjoyment.

It would have been great if the open world and side ops in mgsv were amazing. Open world with hidden secrets would also be great too. Deploying your own soldiers within the open world would have been spectacular and it would allow an excuse for a co-op system. I believe a mgsv remake would be the most interesting game to get a remake in the mgs franchise.

MGS1 is still the best looking one, despite the limitations. The color design and everything is so crisp. After that it just get so muddy with the bloom and the shading. And its the peak of the awesome "anime Tom Clancy" style as well I think. For all the innovation and memorable scenes, the series jumps the shark from there and keeps on jumping...

I grew up playing the MGS games MGS1 forward on all of the PlayStation systems they were released on, it influenced hobbies and skills I picked up, gifts friends and family gave me, it also inspired me to want to make my own games someday. I even got my mother to make me a bandanna years ago which so far only my passed away dog had worn a few times and since my mother also passed away early last year so it means a lot to me. In the MGS games you can get different "regular" cardboard boxes which will take you to the various locations you've been to before.

@22:00 The answer you are looking for is CQC. Most of its mechanics are unfortunately hidden in the tutorial menus. Also you can get bosses cameos by taking them out non-lethally. The End can also die of old age.

I remember that long ladder in MGS3, it was hilarious. The first time I played it I thought I was missing something, because it reminded me of the final stairs in Super Mario 64, where you needed to have a certain number of stars to be able to get to the top, or else the stairs were infinite. Probably Kojima was inspired by that in SM64 and wanted to play a joke on us.

That ladder has serious meaning in that game. He starts climbing as naked snake but it's big boss that emerges at the top.....what a thrill

If you beat Metal Gear Solid Integral on any difficulty on the the original PlayStation at least once, the next time you played the game on the same save file, you could hit triangle twice and play the game and even shoot in first person mode. However, for some reason the Integral version in the master collection it wont let you do that. Also there already was a remake of Metal Gear Solid realeased on Gamecube called Twin Snakes, with improved graphics, first person shooting, and you can hang and drop from ledges. Now that you beat 1, 2, and 3, i challenge you to 100% the VR missions from MGS1, and also the ones in MGS2.

I am a hardcore Snake Eater fan, it was the first metal gear game i played as a kid. I was so grateful for the master collection because it gave me the opportunity to play MGS1 for the very first time. I would not nitpick anything from your reviews. you clearly did your research and respect the content. One thing you said about MGS1, you wish the aiming system was updated, they actually did remake the game for the gamecube, twin snakes. but it is not easily accessible, hopefully they include it in the master collection vol 2. it was awesome seeing the perspective of a gamer experiencing all three of these for the first time. i hope to see you again when vol 2 releases.

Yes you’re right. I own the Twin Snakes for Game Cube but haven’t played it yet. I will dive into that after my move and I set up my new game room. I plan on having a Game Cube station set up with an HDMI switcher so I can just jump in easily and play a lot of my classic consoles. Thanks for comments and yes I will definitely be playing Volume 2 whenever they release that.

@@SnakeEaterGaming”I’ve heard a lot of good things about it” Well I wouldn’t say your right. It’s actually unfortunate that twin snakes gets discredited all the time by metal gear fans because twin snakes in all actuality is a good game.

Hey, buddy. This is a great video, and I really enjoyed watching it. I just wanted to make sure you caught on to the fact that you're not playing as the same character (Solid Snake) in MGS3. You're playing as the man he was cloned from, Big Boss. The villain of the original Metal Gear games on MSX. The whole story is focused on showing why he started to turn the "dark side" and how he earned the title of "Big Boss."

I am almost in my 40s. As a Kid when MGS 1 came out on the Demo Disc and was passed around between people the Hype was as big as it could get with no Internet. We bought - i think it was the PSX - Magazine and read as much as we could. on release i think it was around 100-120 DM and i had to work my ass of for it. This thing was an absolute Blast. Me and my best Friend played it again and again and again. Getting every Secret, Easter Egg and unlockable we could find. Even as the PS2 came out we still came back to it and played it together with challenges (swapping controller if someone got spotted by the Enemy). As soon as we knew Metal Gear 2 would be a thing it was almost release time. And we still played the first one (even more so after we knew what was coming). The good old times where you had to pay so much and could not just slot stuff into your library via download was the times we enjoyed games over and over again. So needless to say we had the same Experience with 2 and 3. So... actually we had almost the same back to back experience and on top of that we could enjoy the games with the Stealth and Ammo Bandana or got all dog tags in mgs 2. Dang i love those games.

Newcomer to the franchise too, and a really helpful tip to the people turned off by the difficulty of the bosses: in MGS1, equip the PSG1, then equip a chaff grenade before the PSG1 animation starts, go into first person mode and out, and you will not take damage
