Another great video Clayton, thanks for the breakdown of what's working/not working, Jig/Minnow, Plastic, Hyper rattle... Not everything works every time, and great to hear the struggle is real. Also, couldn't agree more about FFS, it's a personal choice of what to spend your $$ on and enjoy. It's not for everyone, but neither is camping gadgets, or expensive E-bikes, so to each their own.

🔥Clayton keep doin what you do. Anyone with a hobby “levels up” as they grow and learn. You start cheap and find a way to get better equipment. Sure you could use a stick and string from shore but you saved, got a new boat, got upgraded “tools” and you won’t stop. Also remember you sold your old stuff to help pay for new. All good. Appreciate all good spirited comments! Get outside with what you can afford!

As always Clayton great video. Even with some of the latest and greatest tech there will be tough days angling. This video proves that. What is nice is to see how the fish interact with the bait (even the old tried and true jig & a minna) and that they don’t always necessarily want it. How many fish have I missed over the years simply because it was too high or too low or reeling too fast? Appreciate the ending of the video. Keep these coming Clayton. Only thing worth watching besides the playoffs. Better than the other junk on normal TV. Can’t wait for the next video.

hey Clayton in response to the end of the video, maybe try to show people a spot, on a map, use the live scope, catch, release, show techniques throughout, maybe a couple spots, make it a series!!Like Lake Winnipeg, or Deefenbaker, or a random nothern lake, even google maps will show structure, then it would be cool if you could show us how what you've learned in the places you do already fish, how much your knowledge of how to fish has increased, with primitive sonar ;)

Lots in this vid. First, thank you for sharing the tagged fish info. Good stuff. "The J is silent Ricky", lol. Love it! Boy, live imaging... you're an avid fisherman and avid fisherman use technology always have always will. I do appreciate your explanation. For the viewer though it can be overwhelming. Having said that, I'm watching no matter what. The things I've learned from you, Jay, Aaron are invaluable. I'm able to take it and apply it on the lakes and rivers I fish. Especially, handling fish and getting them back quickly. I'm not overly excited about watching live imaging but I get it. It's just everywhere right now, a bit of sensory overload if that makes sense. Love your vids, Clayton. Keep being you. Lol, this is def my longest reply. Remember, the J is silent Ricky!

Just got my first Helix 7 MSI, MDI. Around a thousand dollars. Had a Huminnbird Matrix 67 for 18 years and it went kaput. Didn't want to give it up. Caught plenty of fish on it in south eastern Wisconsin and north eastern Illinois and Lake Michigan with it. Looking to do some more damage with the new unit. Great vid.

Great video and comments about live imaging. This sort of topic comes up a lot in all areas. Go to a hunting forum and you'll see people that complain about fancy compound bows or crossbows. I always say, unless you are hunting or fishing with a stick you cut off a tree and a string you made yourself, you are taking advantage of technology. Some cost more than others but everything used today is a monumental leap from what people had only a hundred years ago.

Great video as always. We are all in with FFS. When I saw it for the first time I did whatever I could to get one of those units, and trying to be totally honest and not exaggerate I think we catch 10 times more fish than 10 years ago. All of my buddies now have it, Garmin owes me a bunch! We hardly keep any fish any more, but catch so many more and bigger fish because we have learned so much from the ability to see the locations and reactions of those fish. Thanks again for showing those videos where the struggle happens because it happens for us all the time!

The live imaging is quite the hot topic. I really appreciate being able to see the live imaging while you simultaneously explain what you're doing.. I have hear tho that the fish can "feel" the sonar waves in their lateral lines so maybe ithey'll learn to avoid it or something and move when too many sonar waves keep hitting them. Certainly seems an unfair advantage in tournaments unless everyone has one..

So to the comment about the livescope, a lot of the people that are hating on livescope hated on 2d,sidescan, and down scan when they first came out. It’s a new and fun technology to learn. It’s not like the livescope is hooking the fish for you but helping you target them better.

Is this Lost Mountain Lake Maped? Looks like a cool lake. I 100% agree with your comment on the live imaging. I hear it down in the states too (I live in WI) . I have Mega Live and took it into Canada twice last year. What I tell those who don't agree with the technology is that "Yes it will help locate fish - but you still need to catch them. There is no question that it will make you a better fisherman - probably more so when you struggle with not getting the fish you can see to bite than the other way around. I love the way you talk about being willing to switch presentations. It's easy to "get stuck in the mud betting on the come" when you can't see whats down there. But when you see them and can't catch them it will teach you when to switch baits and presentations. I love watching you do this, your not afraid of saying what doesn't work rather than fill a video full of you just catching fish after fish after fish. Thanks for what you dol.

Always enjoy your videos. Just a comment re fishing technology. Advancing fish catching technology has and always will made it incrementally easier to catch fish; be it the outboard motor or FFS. Fisherman just need to realize this all leads to the necessity to gradually reduce limits and ultimately towards mostly catch and release. If everyone is ok with that - keep bringing on the technology
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors 3 ай бұрын
How does limits have anything to do with technology though? Wouldn’t limits have to do with people keeping to many fish and over fishing a lake? You can over fish a lake without technology to can you not?

Another great video! I'm shocked at how slow those fish grow. I fish lake Erie from the states and they grow fast. 15 inches in the first two years, 1-3 inches a year after that. The Ohio DNR says they often reach 28 inches in 7 years.

Watching videos with livescope makes it more exciting, without it you make a cast if you dont get bit no big deal no ones the wiser, but with livescope you can have your heart broken when the big fish swims off the screen and then your left wondering the size species. I get a kick from that because you know there is always some bigger smarter fish that is just out of reach, and that's what keeps us coming back. I can't afford livescope, but I will find a way to buy it eventually.

Sure the live sonar shows you fish, it doesnt make them bite. I'd compare the hunting side of it like having the tech to locate deer. But you have to build your own gun and hope it works properly to kill the deer...

I honestly don't think live imaging helps you catch fish as much as people think . A good example is Uncut vs Jay on the kayaks. Sure, Jay won, but it was neck and neck. Another example is the geeks on goi the only team without live imaging got second place. I know where the fish are in my lakes i dont need live imaging to find them. I do enjoy the live imaging on some videos, but I do agree it gets repetitive when every video is so similar with live imaging. Still love the vids and 🍻

Love the explanation on the live scope. Totally concur with your comments. Maybe one day I will be able to put away for a live scope but for now I use a garmin striker 4- ice unit. It didn’t break the bank but still gives me a little edge on depth, structure and activity. It’s in my price range and not complicated. I use it summer and winter. Stay within your means and the whole point is to just get out there and be fishing rather than not be. 😎
