I've dealt with depression for a long time and my husband has observed that I tend to get "down" more during January-February. I did come to register a couple of years ago that the shortest day of the year is right when winter officially starts and then the days start slowly getting longer. That "realization" has improved my outlook for the winter months after the holidays are over with. While the days are getting shorter, I'm busy with extra holidays happenings and then I can start looking forward to a little bit more daylight each day after that. That has helped me to not fear going into the colder months and making my depression worse by psyching myself out.

My new years goal is to start working out as well as eat a lot better, I want to declutter and organize everything we have (house, cars, sheds, etc), 2024 was one of the hardest years for my family as we lost both my grandparents within 5 months of each other and I want 2025 to be a better year and be the year of getting everything in order!

I tried doing the one paper type per kid last year, and both of my kids were upset they didn't get to open one with the opposite paper. LOL. Lesson learned this year and everyone got a mix of the leftover papers I wanted to use up. Santa usually uses paper with his face on it, so that is its own special paper.

That ornament is ADORABLE! I’m hosting Christmas Eve with my two sons, their spouses and children (total of 7 + me and hubby.) Also hosting the same group on 12/21 to celebrate hubby’s bday! I never make resolutions except to be more healthy! I love that you have that island to wrap presents! Enjoy your holidays for sure!

Cellar spiders are very helpful. (Don’t know if that’s what this one is…) I have heard they will keep poisonous ones away. (I have brown recluse spiders in my home during warm weather. 😬)
