Clean Idle Air Control Ford Super Duty 5.4L V8 1999-2004

I will be taking on this job tomorrow on my 2004 F350 with a 5.4 Triton. This was the first video I have found over the last week of searching that shows the exact setup I have in my truck. Just did that on my 5.4 Expedition. Went straight for the idle valve. No need to remove anything else about a 10 minute job

@@bengutierrez2271 i went in with a 1/4" ratchet and a 10mm socket if i remember correctly. Very little room to wiggle.

Yeah customer/friend came to the shop yesterday for me to help him do this to his 5.4. He opened the hood and started tearing everything apart. I stopped him after he removed the air filer housing. I stop him and looked, didn't see the idle air control valve. I told him it was on the back side so opened the cab and removed the dog house. 2 minutes later I had the IAC off. Please make a note on here that this does not apply to vans. Plus, cleaning the IAC valve doesn't always fix a trouble code.

Could you do a video/explain the tube assembly that you remove at 5:18? My ‘01 hums loudly when it idles sometimes and I think I’ve seen that this tube assembly may be the issue. Mine is very loose and I have had to zip tie it.

I just propped open throttle intake, and sprayed some serious carb & part's cleaner down inside that opening and let it sit for a few hours, and bam solved my idle up problem.

Check the throttle body for excessive clearance between the air horn and throttle body. If excessive, replace the throttle body. It can cause high idle.

Is it absolutely necessary to remove throttle mounting plate JUST to remove IAC? It seems there's enough room with the plate on the engine to remove the IAC. Or am I missing something???

I went through the dog house and there is no IACV there. I looked through the front and still no IACV anywhere. I see exactly where it should be but nothing not even a hole. 05 Ford e350 club wagon...any help?

i have a 04 ford f150 fx4 recently it just started dieing out at red lights after it gets warmed up so i think its got to be the idle air control valve so i go buy it and i dont see where it could go . does it tale a idle air control valve if not why the dieing out at stops

Great vid, Watched to find the location of Iac valve.Usually on throttle body but mines an 04 expedition and I think its on the right side of TB setting on intake.It seems like Ford likes to move things around allot even in the same Model 4 yr time frame. Just a tip ive been cleaning them for 30 years and Penetrating oil works wonders ,spray and,let it soak 30 minutes then what ever you can access scrape out with a wire or anything you have handy but dont damage the pintle. after that flush with carb cleaner,then repeat process a few times but you dont have to let it soak just oil scrape and rinse,, when your finished squirt penetrating oil back inside it so it will keep things lubed and prevent buildup then reinstall..I usually run into carbon as well as Gum thats why I go this route..Anywhoo I hope u don't think im trolling ur Video..I appreciated it very much, Thankyou....Oh yeah theres a valve and a seat at the end of the pintle shaft and housing thats typically where the majority of the problem lies

I have a hose two hoses connected to the bottom of my throttle housing that looks like it's running to my cooling system. Any idea what that could be, and if it's safe to get air in them?

its for the pcv valve wich operates off the vapors from the coolant pipe behind and on the side of the intake and then goes into the throttle body to the pcv valve

Ok so I just bought a 1999 F350 super duty with a 5.4. Automatic. I notice when I drive it isn’t exactly quiet. I feel like it’s sputtering. I went into reverse and it just lost power. Also happened once while going forward. I haven’t driven it yet really but I wonder if this is a fix for that. Mind you I’m not a real auto mechanic, I just play one while watching KZbin. On that note I see a lot more F250 repair videos. Is it the same thing as fixing the 350? Anyone?😅 I really want to be the one that fixes everything on this truck. I’d love to know the ins and outs of this.

Why 99-07? Is a 2008 E350 5.4 2V significantly different? (I haven't looked yet; it's cold here ;)

So I have to pick a date to make the cut off for the video and I do that based off of manufacturer model years. If you have a 5.4 2V of a different year it will probably be similar but I can't take that chance on KZbin because people are mean to me. Thanks for watching!

This video is not correct, I have a 2005 F150 5.4 triton engine and it doesn’t have an idle control valve. How do I know this ? Because I called two different parts supply store and they both said that the 2005 does not have an idle control valve.

What was in the Motorcraft box there on the work bench? .. I also noticed the original part number was missing on the replacement IAC .... Was a NEW IAC installed instead the one that was removed and cleaned? Which is the preferred procedure anyway!
