I use the same hay and they compact it down so much and I completely understand the struggle of getting it out! I put the hay in a bin and loosen it a little. It works well!

I just got my hamster a few days ago! hes a dark brown and white syrian and hes already the sweetest. he has a cage about the same size if not bigger than yours and hes so happy! we rescued him from living in the smallest cage with a poor diet to living in a new home with a 12 inch wheel and 15 inch bedding, thank you victoria

I am a kid and I have a hamster, I’ve had him since last November, but I have a nice big bin cage, 10 inch wheel, a sand bath, and moss and quark logs so it is natural. I am so happy that I found you so my hamster has a good life. P.s. my parents let me stay up some days so I can interact with my hamster and I have a savings account for my pets that I put my birthday and Christmas money just in case one of my pets gets sick. Thanks for giving good education and entertainment❤

When I was using oxbow or any store bought hay, I would actually just cut the bag entirely open and store it in a storage container like a big steralite or rubbermaid container. It worked better for me. Now I use mini bales of farm hay for way cheaper and lasts me way longer so I have manny containers like that lol

I found that i get a large container like you put the rabbits' bedding into, for the hay and then cut open the side of the bag while in the container and it comes right out. the it easier to grab handfuls to give your pet.

2:18 okay! So here’s what i do with those hay bags. Look up “dog food bin.” And get one of the ones on wheels the same-ish size as the bags of hay you buy…. Then when i get a fresh bag of hay i cut down the sides and dump it into the rolling bin and fluff it up, so then it’s a lot easier to pull from, and it’s also on wheels

Also Victoria, do you mind posting a video about why hamsters suddenly die? I had a male Syrian hamster named Bonita, he was living in a 40 gallon breeder tank and I was giving him food and water daily. Then one day, I opened up his cage to wake him up because I hadn’t seen him for a while and was concerned. When I opened the lid of his chamber hide out, I saw him laying there, stiff and cold. I lifted him up and realized he wasn’t breathing, and his nose was bloody. I was terrified and confused because I’d thought I’d given him the perfect care he needed. I still don’t know the cause and don’t want it to happen again. He hadn’t even lived a year. So I’d appreciate it a lot if you could post about it. Thank you!

2:14 Just in case this helps at all - I find it *so* much easier to get hay out if I cut the bag vertically at the front. I've saved myself from many hay splinters and sore fingers by doing this lol. Might also help to store the rest of the hay in an airtight box as well, so that it doesn't make a mess
