Clean, repair and maintenance of Hobie Vantage CT kayak seatback

I had the same problem. The white rope kept coming of the pulley system, every single time. Even if my back was against the Vantage Seat. I used 2 polyurethane washers, like the ones that come in the “rudder stiffening kit”. I placed one between the pulleys and another one below the lower pulley. Problem fixed for ever !

I thought I was really stuck on fixing the problem of the seat not reclining. This video makes it a very easy fix. You just need a very small phillips screwdriver to remove 8 screws.

I run the seat high in the front and mid in the back to make it like a recumbent position. Helps take pressure off my back and knees when pedaling. Feels great. The only problem is that with the seat angled back, the seat back position is way more reclined than I'd like, even with it set as "upright" as it can be. Is there a trick to make it so the upright-most position is steeper? Could I just trim that white line down? Thanks!

Hey man, don't kniw if you're still checking this thread but my seat has cracked underneath the seat. I'm trying to figure out a fix. Perhaps a steel rod fixed under the screws.

We just took our Hobie out for the first time and one of our ct vantage seats lists to the right. The tension is not equal on both sides. We have done as this video suggests but everything looks fine. Any suggestions or do we contact dealer to resolve?

This is a great video! I'll be taking my seats home for maintenance now since they don't want to recoil. Two questions, how do you put tension on the seat when recoiling? and secondly, the adjustable bar that the seat hooks onto seems to have frozen and won't move up or down. Is there a way to un-stick it? The sleeve that puts the bar in motion won't move. Thanks!

Is the rubber strip supposed to move side to side? Do the hog rings hold the white line to the bungee?

That rail where the mechanism slide back and forth, if that rail is broken how can you fix it?

My line broke. Can I just use the standard steering lines Hobie sells to replace it? I have the ct seat and can’t find replacement for it specifically.

What about the lumbar support I just bought a seat used it worked fine until the guy started showing me how everything worked now the lumbar knob won't go back in??

My seat back is not wanting to reset to a more forward position. Could it be just dirty and not allowing the mechanism to slide?

I have an issue with the front up and down adjustment on the seat. One is jammed at the top and one at the bottom.Cant budge them even when sitting in seat using body weight?

We measure and install shims on side seat mounts here at the factory. It sounds like your boat might be a bit too wide in that spot and could a shim or extra shims. Are you able to take your boat to a local dealer for help?

Have a new 2021 pro angler 12 360 with vantage set, the left hand adjuster for seat back won't stay locked after adjustment. any pressure on seat back cause it to rotate and skip the notches. An adjustment, or defective part? has not been in use n=but one short trip, and never got wet or in sand. Thanks

Hello Sonny and sorry for the delay and sorry for the issue. It is possible to accidentally twist the barrel adjuster the wrong direction (the top inward) in which case it will skip and unwind when you load up the seat. We've heard of this and seen it before. Since you have two boats you might have already checked this and made sure you're adjusting it in the correct direction, if this is not the case with you then you could likely have a part with a defect or broken part and any Hobie dealer can help as well and let us know back here.

@@HobieOfficial we have now had the kayaks several trips out for a few miles and have now inspected what we expect in finding several small problems we contacted the dealer we have now found other problems and would love to consult with someone that knows the engineering and design we kind of got the brush off from Matt Miller who told us just to file a warranty claim we didn't buy these things to file warranty claims and the road test them for hobie
