Sounds like they developed these to be resistant to Entomosporium leaf spot. Are they developing similarly resistant varieties for redtip photinias?

Hi 👋🏻I have a question. I’m in South Carolina zone 8b. I’ve recently started a new flower garden in an old field but it is covered in weeds really bad!! nutsedge mostly. Would you have any suggestions on how to get rid of it? Would covering it with cardboard and leaves over winter kill it?
