After a stranger from Liberia sent me Facebook message asking for money, I put him to work as a photographer. I soon published a book with all his pictures and titled it "By D Grace of God." In this video I share how the money we raised was put to use.

@@tabushka292 I'm born intersex so I think the LGBT community does need some publicity as for me I suffered greatly health wise until 20 because I had no idea things like this can even happen with absolutely no education on the topic, so yes it does matter. But I think KZbin is really pushing the topic way too much and they constantly use drag queens to represent the community, which really isn't the community and it reinforces stereotypes. Seriously the LGBT community is nothing like they show in the videos, the only ones like that are usually marching in the pride parade. So yeah, KZbin should really diversify the stuff they show and promote.

@Reunite The British Empire I don't know why it bothers you so much and why you go around insulting people for wanting to help. You do bring up some good points, I won't argue that everything you said is completely wrong. I do disagree with a lot, but I also think that anyone who truly wants to help people should try to understand what the situation is. The irony is that everything you are saying is brought up as an excuse why people SHOULDN'T help. It's ironic because if you don't care, why does it get you upset that people are trying to do something to fix it? You even state that people in Africa, a massive continent filled with various different languages, cultures, and beliefs, might not deserve our food. If we spent time trying to figure out whether or not people actually "deserved" our care, love, support, help, etc. before doing anything, we wouldn't actually be helping. Doctors understand this. They help people regardless of situation. And even people who seem to be under the impression that you should only help people who deserve it will inevitably help those they really care about without objectively trying to gauge whether or not they are deserving. And you say that it doesn't matter who you are, but it actually really does. From the mouth (or keyboard in this case) of someone who actually cares about others, "If you give cheap stuff, you will destroy their hope," leads to a solution, not an excuse. It leads people to come together, discuss the real problems, and find ways to help without causing more strain on society. And amazing things happen when people come together. That's a REAL positive statement. Think about this: You seem to think that giving water directly to the people ignores producers. That would be great if water was something that is produced. That isn't the case. You mention things like agriculture, which is irrelevant to the point. Yes, let farmers and kids and families get water. It's literally falling from the sky. This is about giving Liberians the means to harvest their own water. Giving "producers" this opportunity, will stimulate growth as they will be able to use that water to create other things, like crops, that they can sell. One last point, this is all about giving people the means to provide for themselves, not providing things for them, which makes a lot of your points irrelevant.
@flashbash2
@flashbash2 5 жыл бұрын
@Reunite The British Empire not sure if you partly misunderstood me or just don't agree with anything I said. Your example about the "helpless hobo" is far from what I was saying. There's a huge difference between enabling someone and giving them the opportunity to better themselves and encouraging them along the way. We're all human here and what a lot of people need is to feel like their lives can improve. And their lives can improve. It happens. Everyone isn't destined for the same fate. Encouragement and support works and people change. That's a fact. I'm not under the delusion that it's easy, but I'm also not under the delusion that we can't make any positive changes in the world. Often times, you need to give people fish so they won't die, but if you stop there, you'll only make the problem worse. I feel we're in full agreement there. But if you teach them to fish, you can help them not only feed themselves but others as well. I wasn't saying anyone was helpless. I don't believe that and I think anyone who does is deluded. But somehow when I advocate helping people to stand on their own, you somehow think that's the same thing.
@flashbash2

@Reunite The British Empire all I'm saying is that we should help each other without first worrying about who deserves it.
@flashbash2

@Reunite The British Empire that's fine. But I wasn't even talking about Africa in my last comment. I was talking about helping people in general. I was talking about the people who have actually gotten people off the streets and off to living a better life. I was talking about people who have provided jobs for people who were desperate for work I was talking about people who trained and equipped people who seemed to have no way to improve their life. That does happens. It's not a lie.

Once again thank you so much and I will try to meet some NGOs in Nigeria to take this idea on, most especially in our south-south region where most of the water is polluted as result of crude oil activities and neither the government nor the international oil producing companies cares to remedy the wickedness imposed on the people.

Wow. This is one of the best stories I've seen on KZbin. I've just watched all the videos on this channel, approx 3hrs of viewing of amazing heart warming entertainment, such a turn around of a would be scammer to someone doing good for his country helping people less privileged than ourselves for things that we take for granted like clean water, clothes, pens and paper ect. Just ordered the 2x by d grace of God books for $25 including shipping to the UK. Hopefully the little money I've spent will go along way to the people of Liberia.

I bought a digital copy. I'm hoping it gives more than a physical book. I'm not a wealthy person, but these acts must be supported by everyone that has $5 they can spend. Clean water is the single most important resource that un/under-developed countries struggle over, and water borne illnesses kill too many people across the globe, everyday. What you're doing is so simple, but has the greatest impact! Thank you, both Ben and Joel.

mostly the countries and places that have given up the handouts have progressed. In some countries there is one part of a countryside where people have come together and rejected foreign 'aid', and have created a thriving economy, while their neighbours in the same countryside are still on foreign aid and still poor. It's incredible but true. Also, lord knows where all those billions go.

I appreciate your impact to help the helpless. I have seen previous videos, where good deeds have aspired from total strangers and would refer to your interaction as a God sent. I am however confused with the book's title, as it was clear there was no dubious intentions, but someone who truly needed help and with your smart thinking you responded passionately testing his motive, fair enough, I salute you, and your endeavor to take it to another level, and since, you continue to find ways and means to help, not many people would go this length. I am just curious about the title of the book, "from scammer to saint", which is obviously an eye catcher for sales, but sounds negative, until one reads the book, otherwise, that is the impression portrayed of another kindhearted fellow like yourself who was in dire need when he first approached you. I'm certain there are many other attractive selling titles that could draw attention. An eg. "The stranger who begged for money". It's straight to the point, but with curiosity too, and not demeaning. I'm sure Joe doesn't mind as he sees you effortless...thank you and God bless you all who are transforming the lives of many unprivileged...

The water bags and water bottles are made in Liberia. There are several companies that filter and sell water. :)
