I like that you use a broom! All the cleaning ladies I had were adamant to vacuum before swiping; I am now doing my own day to day cleaning and use a broom, and find it much more efficient than a vacuum. I also came up with a strategy doing the maximum in a minimum time (good kitchen towels and several different sprays) My worst nightmare:dusting every corner, watering my plants, vacuuming the wool rug (with a pet) and just swiping a large surface. I am already exhausted writing it !

Hi Sarah, I do the same as you in your cleaning and then on the weekend I will Vaccum and wash the floors and do laundry change sheets. Every 4 months I take everything off my shelves and hutches and give them a wash or just wipe with a rag and then I wipe down the shelves . By doing this I’ve noticed they’re not that dusty at all but it keeps them that way so not much work or time involved. We just painted the inside of our whole house ceilings and all ourselves and it was such a great time to do because it was Spring cleaning time and moving furniture and cleaning behind everything and washing curtains and taking down things to give to thrift shops just makes everything so fresh and clean . It’s really so rewarding to keep your home so clean and fresh. Thankyou for sharing. Have a beautiful blessed day 🙏🕊❤️💐

We use rugs at EACH of our doors both inside and outside. We learned that trick YEARS ago (long before You Tube) from a Don Aslett who ran a cleaning company. Best tip ever. His company sells some but now there are so many different ones available online. Our family has always taken off their shoes at the door. Now that it is just my husband and I, and we live on a farm it is more important than ever. We just purchased some new ones; different types based on usage. I would love to see your tricks and tips on hiding everyday items. It can be difficult living in a modern world surrounded by vintage design.

I feel ya, we live on over 12 acres of wood and are often outdoors and my husband's boots track everything in!!! He tries to remember to kick them off at the porch but not always. Anyone visiting also tracks things in because pine needles are constantly on the walk...ugh!!! I finally purchased an LLBean indoor/outdoor runner for inside front door to catch anything the welcome mat did not. It's helped some but not as much as I would like. As for floor cleaners...I have my Dyson cordless vac, Bona microfiber mop and spray, and for deep cleaning I use my steamer/wet vac cleaner (yes, on the wood floor). Mine dries it very well so no water sits on it. I limit the deep cleaning so it doesn't ruin the wood.

Love your home! I use a ruggable rug at my front door to collect dirt and dust! Also I rarely use a broom anymore because my cordless dyson vacuum is a game changer and my absolute favorite household tool!!!! It sucks up all the dust dirt ashes etc. I use it almost every day for high traffic areas I have hardwood floors too and use a microfiber floor duster often in conjunction with my Dyson.

Another wonderful video, Sarah! I like this style video! I really want to try the stair runner idea here at my home! It’s also a very old home and the stairs are narrow and make me nervous. My daughter fell down them just the other day (she’s fine thank God!) so this video came at the perfect time! You don’t find the ruggable material to be too shiny/slippery? …some area rugs feel slippery to me lol

I visited Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand recently for 3 weeks. Shoes are not worn indoors. Every home has a shoe rack outside of the house. Slippers or other house shoes are kept inside the entrance. What a huge difference it makes ! I now take my street shoes off when I walk inside and wear my Dansko clogs indoors because I need more support than just slippers.

Do you know the name of your crystal wine glasses in your bedroom ? They look like mine and I need to replace one that broke. I liked this video. You are encouraging me to stay on top of things more. We use mats or rugs inside the doors. We also mainly come in the mudroom, it does get dusty and dirty, but the shoes come off there. It has made a huge difference.

Beautiful... Have an opinion 🧐 you need a vacuum. as you sweep with that broom 🧹 your spreading the dust. + That feather duster it's worth. It's beautiful as decor but not to use. You need to try the Swiffer brand duster which catches the dust it mind blowing and it don't spread it.. it will change you life and Castco sells it.

My wood floors are from 1820. They are in our entire home except for 2 bathrooms which have ceramic tile. Our master bath has a wood floor I think because that room was originally a nursery before indoor plumbing. I use Bona or vinegar and water to clean them and I occasionally mop but if I have time, I clean them by hand. It isn’t any harder than doing light yoga. 😅 I’m sentimental about my floors. Yesterday I was cleaning the upstairs hall by hand and cleaned the crack in the floor which reminded me ; this is the crack that my daughter’s best friend caught her high heel in on my daughter’s wedding day. I should probably have that crack repaired but instead I cover it with a small rug and embrace the imperfection which holds a precious memory. ❤

Toilet “tabs”. If you live here in the USA, you should be able to find them in the cleaning section of your store. You place a tablet inside your toilet tank (follow the directions on the package), and every time you flush, more cleaning solution is dispensed into your toilet bowl. Blessings!❤

The Japanese traditionally remove their shoes before entering the home also. Wearing shoes indoors makes your floors filthy. We stopped wearing shoes indoors many years ago {family of 9} and what a HUGE difference it made!
