When you put the food in plastic it shouldn't be hot.My cousin passed on that tip and no stains ever since. Baking soda might help you scrub the stain out. But the stain may have been set in for good by the heat if the dishwasher too. Do you have a big lots near you? They have the best prices for glass storage containers. But you still gotta be careful with the lids on glass because they are plastic too and can stain.I like to stick with red and blue lids when available.

Hi Tan. Don't toss the container. What I use is Dawn dissolver. the only place I can find it now is Amazon and a little goes a long way. it's worth it. You can even use on old pots to get the brown stain off bottom, etc.

I was told years ago by a Tupperware consultant to rinse all your plastic or Tupperware with cold water. Then use dawn and cold water to wash them to get all the stain out. The cold water keeps the stain from setting. After that you can wash in hot water and its good to go. I've been doing this for years it works great for me.

If you spray the plastic leftover with a light cooking oil before you pour in spaghetti or chili it usually keeps it from staining. Love your channel. :)

Hola! I had spaghetti the other day and used a plastic container. I used Dawn, baking soda, and vinegar (a little bit of each) wiped out the container and put it in the dishwasher. The stains went away. I have also heard that leaving the stained container in sunlight for a few hours removes stains as well. :)

Some dishwashers and acidic foods (like tomato or curry😩) can permanently etch and stain plastic containers. Sometimes it's easier to use glass containers for storing hot food or food that needs to be heated. To protect the plastic cover on glass containers from staining, I spray the inside of the cover with cooking spray or cover the opening with plastic wrap before I put the cover on. If I have to store acidic foods in plastic containers for a potluck or something, I try to spray the inside of the containers with cooking spray. Once plastic is stained, it can be bleached, but I've yet to see the stain completely disappear. So stained containers get used for something besides food storage. Good luck with your containers.

I get the water as hot as possible and rinse the bowl down with the sprayer and that gets it's out. The dishwasher can't cut the grease. The trick is to clean it right way because once the grease dry there's no going back.

@shimmy27088 жыл бұрын
Peonies and Fros I've read not to wash chicken because it just spreads any potential germs and that cooking without rinsing is enough to kill bacteria.
@Not2008Me7 жыл бұрын
I agree. I can't speak for all cultures, but I know in most black households across America and the Caribbean we clean our meat first. Not only does it wash it, but also cuts down the gamey or raw flavor of the meat. My husband is Caribbean and he uses lime juice to clean the meat. I am African-American and we used vinegar because of the acidity to clean the meat and sometimes bitter oranges that grew in the yard, but definitely not just from package to stove, yuck. I'm with you, clean it 1st or I won't be eating it lol.
