I just found you channel and I’m so happy to see you covering Janome machines. Shops featuring Janome near me (southeast Florida) have closed. Thank you for your very well explained videos. Greatly appreciated. 😊

Hi can you tell me where is the bobbin sensor? Thanks.
@AmyQuilts6 ай бұрын
It depends on the model. Your average machine won't have a bobbin level sensor. Janome has 2 different types. The first is mechanical and uses that little silver arm you are seeing on this bobbin holder for just part of it. The arm is often also on machines that don't have the sensor. The Continental series uses an optical sensor.

Should a Janome Horizon MC12000 machine be oiled? I see plenty of videos on cleaning and maintaining but none mention oiling. Neither can I find anything in the machine manual. Thank you for all your videos Amy - they are extremely helpful and very clear with everything explained really well! Thank you.

Yes it should. The wick under your bobbin case should get a drop or two of oil when the wick looks dry and white. There are other places that need oiled that really need to be done by a service person as well as gears that need to be cleaned and regreased. I recommend taking your machine into a Janome dealer for service every 1-2 years. Annually is best if you are an avid sewist/quilter to keep it running quietly and ensure the longest life span for your machine.

I’ve had this happen more than once when I forget to look for it. Those teeny lint balls can be hard to see/remove. My very fine bent nose tweezers are very good for this job. I also use the flashlight on my phone to better see what I’m doing 👍

Can it cause noise as well? When I clean my bobine case, it goes silent for a while but it always starts over. I have a Janome MC8900.

Lint in the bobbin case won't cause noise, but lint UNDER the bobbin case sure will! You may also want to see it your bobbin case has a burr on it that catches thread.
