is there a way to fix loose threads that have been cut? i recently got a pillow with some embroidery damage where some of the threads are loose and have been cut.
@AmyQuilts
@AmyQuilts 3 ай бұрын
Hmmm....hard to give a great answer without seeing it. For the quick or non-sewist fix, especially if there are barely any thread left to secure, a product like Fray Block can be applied at the damaged area. It's clear and a bit like a glue, but it will stay flexible so it's not making a scratchy spot. A more widely known product called Fray check could be used, but it dries hard and scratchy. If there are long enough thread tails, you can tie and bury (or just bury) the thread tails. I've got a video on here some where on that and I carry both Fray Block and Fray Check online at AmyQuilts.com

How do you replace the wick?

Essentially, you just carefully stick it back in. Be very careful to get it back in without it wadding up.

Do you press open the seams on HST?
@AmyQuilts
@AmyQuilts 3 ай бұрын
OOOoohhh...there's a controversial question! I only press seams open if there's a ton of bulk otherwise. Seams pressed to the side are stronger, especially after adding quilting. With seams pressed open, you have no 'ditch' to quilt in, and there's a higher chance of batting sneaking between the stitches, especially after a few washes. That's just how I do it.

Great to reconnect with your work --- am here after seeing your workshop in the "Free Motion Quilting Summit". What a beautiful watercolor piece! I have to admit, as you added more strokes I too could only think about what a pretty fabric collage quilt that picture would make and imagine the thrill of choosing the fabrics for it, LOL! It's hard to divert a quilter's attention but it is good that you found another hobby that brings you joy on your day of rest.

Hi Amy, I curious if this ruler foot is 1/2 circumference like the Westalee or Bernina ruler foot.
@AmyQuilts
@AmyQuilts 3 ай бұрын
This video is quite old, so they may have changed. Originally they came in a few diameters, including a half inch foot. Since Janome has several ruler feet that gives the 1/4 inch offset, I haven't looked at them recently. Hopefully their website will say what they are doing now.

Is there a speed regulator on the foot pedal of the Janome Atelier 7

Your machine is moving at a regular pace, is there a setting on the machine to set that pace or is it just foot control on the pedal.

Hi can you tell me where is the bobbin sensor? Thanks.
@AmyQuilts
@AmyQuilts 6 ай бұрын
It depends on the model. Your average machine won't have a bobbin level sensor. Janome has 2 different types. The first is mechanical and uses that little silver arm you are seeing on this bobbin holder for just part of it. The arm is often also on machines that don't have the sensor. The Continental series uses an optical sensor.

Wish you would’ve explained better or shown a clearer photo of where you put the needle after you come out of the fold. Did you enter the fold on one end, come out the other end of fold and then go thru back? or just one end of fold then the backing? It wasn’t really clear. Do you go just above or just below the line of machine stitching when go thru back? Go a lot slower too. you only showed like two or three stitches then switched to whip stitch.
