Hey Gary - For me, You tube is for entertainemnt, information gathering, education and knowledge and your channel delivers all of these in droves and I honestly look forward to each new episode coming out. Its wondeful to see how each vehicle starts its life with you and see you slowly and meticulously revive them into everyday use. For those of us with a real passion for classic cars and wanting to learn how to keep them on the road (of which im sure there are a wealth of us ) - this channel really is invaluable to this community . As usual - a very enjoyable episode and please keep up the great work Pal. Cheers Stew

good point about the air-fed masks. I'm a DIYer and want to paint with 2K. I got a 2nd compressor and put it out side far away from the building for the mask. The compressor for the gun is inside. Hose from the outside compressor comes through the wall.

I had to keep checking my expectations as it’s an old car, and the words ‘dry ice’ sound so space age, that it will give back a new car lol. The side by side shots of the underside were very cool. For those with a few more pennies than me (I think that’s everyone lol) this seems a really good service. I think a good steam clean would do the same on the engine. But again if you have the extra pennies this looks a great service. Another great video thanks Gary👍🏻

Only let me down once, corrosion in the ignition lock. Longest trip. Ferry from Sweden to Newcastle, then down to Devon and back with wife and son. Only car I regret selling.

Hi Gary. You can't dispute this is such a terrific method and l suggested to a close friend that his Z3 M tech should get this treatment some months ago . I did my "e" type the old fashioned way .......very hard work ! Just to point out that my spray booth had filters at ground level and regarding the air fed masks there are special filters that are fitted to the air supply lines to ensure the air is uncontaminated .......you'd be surprised how many painters still prefer simple masks and one of my close friends brought on an early death by refusing to wear any protection .... you'll always come second if painting with 2 pack ! Cheers !
@classic.obsession8 ай бұрын
I agree John. I also have the special in line filters. Very expensive but I still feel more comfortable having a separate compressor for the mask as far away as possible. Sorry about your friend! Regards.

Yes, absolutely. But make sure it’s done by experienced people who take the care and time. Starting with low pressure and building up to be safe. Sorry Nige. I misunderstood! That quote was for redoing in leather! You mean dry iced it? No I decided it was looking a bit thin and frail. Would’ve just disintegrated as it was old velore. I’ll recover both front seats to match the never sat in rear one. Not a big fan of them but keeping it as original as possible
@nigel.w8 ай бұрын
@@classic.obsession No problem, Gary. Yes, I meant the dry ice. I thought the interior looked at bit far gone, but was hoping to see a miracle. I reckon if you redo the front seats, A pillars, and sun visors, it'll lift the interior significantly. Sometimes you just have to draw the line somewhere so costs don't become ridiculous. Maybe a good used leather interior will come available at a reasonable cost that only needs the driver's seat bolster redoing? Another option could be just to recover the dash, steering column, A pillars, and sun visors in leather or even vinyl, so most of what you see while driving and the immediate touch points are lifted. Anyway, I love the channel and am amazed at your skills. All the best!

I am not that impressed by this process, I tried it on my Porsche 997 engine and it peppered all my vacuum pipes with holes and it didn’t clean the aluminium very well , I ended up using a small wire brush on a drill. maybe it was my in experience but I tried several settings and pressures for poor results , sorry folks just an honest appraisal
@Deycandocandey8 ай бұрын
Nice to hear another perspective mate, you mentioned perhaps inexperienced, do you think that it could have perhaps prevented the damage to the pipes but still perhaps not cleaned the engine either ? Do you have 1 of these machines then mate ? They're expensive to own without actually knowing how to operate them did you not get training with your machine ?

@@Deycandocandey Hi I rented time at a dry ice supply Co I took my engine out and set up in their blasting room, they gave me a tutorial and I got going, I think it’s a case of the low temp achieved when you blast makes a certain type of plastic very brittle it seems to bounce off rubber hoses etc with no damage, tbh I think that several cleaning methods have their benefits and drawbacks, I suppose the thing to do is get a demo on what you intend cleaning and at least you can see if it works in real time ,the pressure variation and nozzle width etc can I think make a difference and I have seen some impressive results on KZbin but for me I will stick to the method I can make work
