Gary! You have me screaming at my screen. Please, for the love of God, use proper hose clamps. Those perforated American type clamps do not belong on a German car. Use 8-12MM rolled edge German clamps for the fuel line, and probably 30-45 on the radiator hoses. Any good German shop has these from Winzer or Wurth. Made by Norma. Next, please dab some grease on the 8MM ball and socket on the carburettor linkage. Don't forget to remind your viewers to disconnect the battery before hitting any electrical jobs. Would have put a $2 rubber boot on the starter cable eye connectors to the starter. Small details like this that make the car. Cheers, Tom

Tom, I think you’re getting confused here. This is not a ‘how to do’ video. It’s merely a bit of entertainment sharing my limited experiences for entertainment! What clamps I use are my prerogative or whatever I can gather my hands on at the time. But above all I am not a mechanic. Maybe try a little self control. After all, it’s just a bit of fun. Regards.

Great episode. From Wikipedia about Alfredo (Dino) Ferrari: The idea for the engine came from Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, who was the son of Enzo Ferrari. Dino suggested to Enzo Ferrari the development of a V6 engine for F2 at the end of 1955. Soon afterwards, Alfredo fell gravely ill, and he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. While hospitalized, he discussed technical details about the engine with a recently hired engineer named Vittorio Jano. Dino would never live to see the engine; he died on June 30, 1956, at the age of 24.

Some of the XJS historical advice you see on websites/forums like Jag-lovers really is very bad. Lots of it seems to be built up by big 'personalities' who nobody dare question. One persons random experience or opinion becomes recorded as the 'fact' of the job. I recently removed, refurbished & refitted the rear IRS. Most of the stuff I read in advance of this job was in hindsight not very helpful at all. Basic stuff like taking time, having tools etc is far more important. Just wait until you read the advice on the XJS Teves ABS system from the 1980s. ppl seem to genuinely think it is dangerous/should never have been sold - reality is its very reliable and simple once understoof, a system used on cars from Volvo to Ferrari!

You want to read the how to do manual on Rolls Royce. Talk about the long way round!! I figure things using common sense when I can. I never refer to it Treves system can be troublesome. I have a problem with the XJS with the motor kicking in for 10 seconds nearly every time I touch the brake, especially in traffic. If I keep my foot on for a while it depletes the pressure eventually as if there’s a leak somewhere. But can I find it?! I’d feel much more confident with the conventional booster Id have to say! Regards.

Thanks for another great video Gary. Being a New Yorker as well as a car guy I’m quite familiar with Cooper Classics. They always had a reputation for working on the stars cars, and also selling some incredible vehicles as well. I had a mechanic that worked for Cooper and George Haug LTD. (a British car service facility on the east side) back in the day that used to service my Jaguars. I recall there was a mishap with one of Mike Tyson‘s Rolls-Royce’s while it was in for service at Cooper, something about it falling down an elevator shaft.
