Ever think about using a laser? We pressure wash ours right now too, about to start setting up a blasting booth. I thinking laser cleaning could be pretty cool to try and just might work on the driffty. I've seen vids of old wood doors and other wood things cleaned with a laser. I'm not sure if anyone in the driftwood business is doing it that way.

Flying rabbit - Use Oak, Maple, Cherry or Birch wood. Do NOT use any pine or cedar they have toxic oils. You can get a commercial sized stew pot up to 200 quarts that you can boil huge pieces in. They come in steel or aluminum and run anywhere from 120 -400 bucks. But a 2' - 3' piece will fit easily in the larger pots.

How to put in Aquarium?? Drift woods r Nt staying under water, what to do for that??
@cryptic_nightmares5616 жыл бұрын
anshad P you have to boil and "sink" the driftwood. Meaning you need to leave it in a tub of water till it saturates with water and starts to sink. Depending on the piece this can take anywhere from a few days to up to a year or more. Boiling tends to speed up this process but if you dont want to wait you can use clear fishing line and tie it to large rocks holding it underwater. Eventually it will sink on its own and you wont need it tied to the rocks but again that can take some time to accomplish.

Do you have to know exactly what species of wood it is so it won't poison the fish, or can you use any hardwood?

Aquascaping; driftwood increases surface area for "good" bacteria in your tank to grow on; it can release natural tannins that increase metabolism and promote reproduction and growth in shrimp and live bearers; creates natural looking hiding spots for ALL bottom feeders; also a source of long-term food for bottom feeders. See also: Cholla Wood.

it can also release beneficial tannins into the water, creating a blackwater system.
