It’s not that they clog. It’s that any debris between the flap and the body of the device limits its functionality.

@@balkanplumbing Are the cast iron with brass check valves more prone to issues, compared to PVC? The brass check valve seems very heavy for waste to push thru!

Not at all. I actually prefer cast iron. I feel drain snakes can chew up pvc. Just my opinion.

I have a 2 family house in Bronx 10462 zip. I have this city sewer backup issue. I do not have any gutter water going into the sewer main. roughly how much to install this sewer backup valve an estimate, please. I have a plastic sewer backup valve installed but it is not perfect. Thanks.

Thanks for the inquiry John. The brand name is Dura. I believe they make 2 or 3 different sizes of access pits with covers.
