Great video. Just pulled my machine out of storage and it sounds so much better now that everything is clean and lubricated. Just a tip for anyone who lost their screwdriver that came with the machine, a quarter works perfectly for those little screw on the plates and to remove the foot.

Great video! I just took my machine apart following your instructions and cleaned and oiled it. It's running like a champ! I saved myself well over $100 in service fees and it solved the jam that I thought I'd have to pay someone to fix.

This was so helpful, thank you! In case anyone else has this issue, I'll mention this. When I put everything back together, I breezed through the part where you locked the needle down before reassembling. I didn't do this, and while I didn't get an E1 error, when I tested out my stitches, my top thread tension was completely wrong, leading to large loops on the wrong side of the thread. I thought something was wrong with the bobbin tension, but hadn't made any changes to it when the machine was apart. I disassembled, and reassembled according to your instructions, making sure to lower the needle housing before reattaching, and now all is well again. Thanks for the great video!

I just have to say that your tip about putting the presser foot lever down just helps in general with putting the machine back together. I had opened mine up to clean and didn't pay too much attention closing it back up and had something in that area get misaligned. Lead to not having any tension in my upper thread and anxiety that I had broken my beloved workhorse. Watched your video and opened my machine back up and closed it the way you said to and it works perfectly now. THANK YOU!!

Thank you! I bought my machine at a thrift store and kept getting the E 1 error. All I could find online was that it was a jam somewhere. So i put it aside till I had time to clean it. It's been months, and I finally got the time and courage. Found your video and just finished cleaning it. Putting it back together, can't wait to find my cord so I can test it to see if the issue is resolved. thank you either way. I have a Pfaff 130 that belonged to my great grandmother, I get it cleaned and oil it regularly, but haven't ever attempted a Newer machine. So this was so helpful. Thanks again.

Thank you a very informative video. It is exactly what I needed to clean a machine for that a gal said was done for. A sewing technician had told her that it was not repairable. The only thing I could find wrong was that it was stuck on reverse. I found a video on YT by a certified technician that shows what the issue is for a machine stuck in reverse. So I will check that out. But one thing he said is that there is a screw hole that was covered with a piece of tape (the middle one of the bottom three screws) that should never be removed because it regulates the timing. I see you take it out but it is not recommended by the manufacturer. But again, thank you for the detail. 😊

First time I ever took a sewing machine apart! I bought this on Marketplace for a friend who I wanted to surprise. I figured it was dirty...couldn't believe the amount of fuzz, dirt, etc!! I now can't wait to give it to her (after I use it first). Just a couple of things for future. Is there a way to a microphone close to you, sounded very quiet at times and hard to hear. Also, when you were oiling the machine your right arm was in the way and couldn't see where you were putting the oil. Overall, this was super specific from taking apart, using the screws, cleaning and saying what the parts were, vacuuming (I definitely will buy one of these), and putting back together. I will no longer fear the possibility of breaking a sewing machine to clean it!

Question - at about 11:15, you are cleaning an area just to the right of the bobbin where there's a small gear. While I was cleaning my machine, it moved and I am not sure I put it back in the original spot. Now my backstitches are much shorter than my forward stitches. Does that gear control backwards stitch length? Do you know how that gear should be set to get it back to its default position? Thanks a bunch for a great video.

It’s working again, but I just noticed that the tension wheel is stuck tight. Thread looks nice on top, but a bit wonky and loose on the bottom for zigzag type stitches. Ugh I'm so scared to do this, but this is my first sewing machine I've learned to use. I'm still learning and teaching myself, but I'd rather figure all this out on my $150 machine by trial and error instead of paying someone the cost of the machine to fix the issue. Here goes nothing, I guess... Thanks so much for posting this video!

Thank you for this video. I've had this same machine for 3 years, made over 40 lap quilts and love it, it's a workhorse. However few days ago it started "stuttering" and would freeze (only when beginning to sew), I'd get E6 error. It would be fine for a few starts - then loudly gr-gr-gr-gr-gr at a start. I took apart machine, cleaned it out and oiled it. It purrs like new - but unfortunately every 4 to 5 starts ... it still loudly stutters and freezes. I noticed in your video your side hand-wheel turns loosely during maintenance, mine is constantly pretty tight. By any chance, would you have any advice?
@Shelekele
@Shelekele 4 жыл бұрын
Update: I believe I found my problem. I carefully removed that computer board near the hand-wheel and loosed, cleaned and oiled the ball joint behind board and below board. I wiggled and turned the wheel to get the oil in cracks so the hand-wheel moves freely, and now no more stuttering or E6 errors. I sew quite a bit and "really" "really" love this machine. (I probably would have gone out and bought another 6000i if I couldn't fix it) I am very thankful you selflessly took the time to make this video. Thanks again!!!
