Thanks for the video first. It is easier without everything in the way. Trust me. And also was seeing video of a ford tech and recommends taking off the battery cable cause the trottle body will clamp shut if open and thats a big no no.. for the fingers..

Honestly man, you need to take the throttle body off and clean both sides. Also you need to DC the negative battery cable or you can really mess things up. Just a couple of thoughts.

Agree most of the serious junk hides behind and beyond the throttle body. May look clean but its a different story upon removal.

I agree, it's easier to clean and looks like brand new afterwards.

Did you disconnect the connector(s) on the throttle body assembly before removal? Did you disconnect negative teminal on battery? I hear moving the butterfly plate while still having power to the throtle body assembly can really mess things up. Who knows; that could just he a silly myth.

Reasonable information. Needs an editor. 2 minutes of in formation in a 10 minute video.

I have a 2015 mustang gt around 72k miles and my dealership said i should clean it bc it’s a bit dirty but they were charging me $150 since my warranty don’t cover it and I’m not paying that much just to clean it. So do you think the way you did it would work the same for me
@Killobyte3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's the same process. I do suggest removing the negative battery cable just to be safe. Not sure if I include that in the video or not, it's been awhile.

Thank you for the video. I would like to know if I need to disconnect the battery (the negative one - black cable) to do clean it properly. Please kindly advise. Thank you.

It’s always safest to remove the negative battery cable first.

I have a 2013 GT with a Ford performance tune and K&N filter. I noticed my fuel economy going down. I will try this.

This was just a 2 year old mustang at the time how many miles did it have? Still being a new car, did you notice any kind of difference after the cleanings? Thank you if you ever get back to this(:
@Killobyte6 жыл бұрын
It would have had around 20k miles. I run a popular aftermarket oil saturated air filter. While the filter flows well, some of its oil gets on the MAF so cleaning it once in while helps. I just did the throttle body to show how in the video.

My car has been having having some flight idling and it also feels like it’s going to stall when I’m going in reverse. Will cleaning the throttle help with those symptoms? 2014 mustang v6
@Killobyte5 жыл бұрын
It might. It helped mine idle more smoothly.

Very Good video except for one thing....You should have disconnected the battery cables b4 doing any of this. Should you have done so, then you should have stated to your viewers right at the start of the video. One more thing, cleaning the throttle body this way could damage the catalytic converter
@Killobyte3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I've cleaned many throttle bodies without disconnecting the neg battery cable, including the one in this video. I agree 100% that it's "best practice" to do so, but I believe that is for liability reasons. As long as you are using a throttle body cleaner approved for catalytic converters you should be fine.
