I've tried alcohol. What seems to work best on my microfiber couch is soap and water. The dollar store has small scrubbing brushes that you can put dish soap in which is what I use. I would normally spray the whole couch down then use the scrub brush periodically squirting out some of the soap and scrub, scrub, scrub. Looks like my 10 yr old couch is new.

My daughter has a microfiber couch in her room that was filthy. I scrubbed it with a brush and a solution if oxy and water and also used my upholstery cleaner on it. It took all day to do but the results are fantastic. Looks brand new and couch is over 10 years old.

Next time you can try with prewashed microfiber cloths. You need to absorb the dirt with a clean cloth and then change to a clean one once the first one is dirty... the sponge was just spreading the dirt around. You might have been able to save time and effort.
@bubblymelo34786 жыл бұрын
Amanda Lopez I agree, I use microfiber cloths and it works well. Also if yoy use a colored sponge, you run the risk of staining the furniture.

Cleaning mine was an absolute disaster. I got some lovely flat sheets and simply cover them with that. Every few days I pull them off, wash them, febreze the couches, and put them back on nice and tight. Everything looks lovely and clean.

My couches are white microfiber couches, and they were dirtier than anything you'll find on youtube. I started using the rubbing alcohol, and it just made it look really blotchy. So then my wife found a youtube video that suggested to use Windex - and it worked way better, and made everything look even! Just make sure you use the Windex that's as clear as possible. Also it help me using a really hard scrubber, and white rags to absorb the stains. Give it a try!

I have brown microfiber couch that I purchased from Ashley and they gave us a microfiber couch cleaner and no lie it smells just like windex. I also tried the alcohol to see if it tally worked but you have to be super fast or otherwise it will look blotchy, so I'm like you I'm sticking to windex and my washing machine every six months.

@anonomuslyfamous8 жыл бұрын
+Macmittens411 I take the cover off the cushion flip it inside out and zip half way and throw it in the washer. I wash it with a mild soap (my baby washing powder) and throw it in the dryer on low. it's best to hang dry them to prevent shrinkage but I'm not patient so I just dry it on low heat for 20 min.

I have a beige or light camel living room set. In my single days, prior to meeting my fiance, my chairs were super clean, still looked new and comfortable. Mind you I have had the set since 07, no one hardly sat on it. I've gotten to the point that I no longer worry about the condition of the set because I bought it to have somewhere to sit. I can't expect to keep people off of the furniture, if that happens they'll end up on the floor, and who wants that😕😂😂😂 My fiance's job produces the train products, brake shoes, train parts and they use tar, rubber, fiberglass and all of it is black and grungy. Over the last 3 yrs, those small dust particles from his job got into all of my chairs, just from walking by, or sitting on them in his clean uniforms... that stuff is horrible to live with and it gets into EVERYTHING. Now my set looks as if I've had it for 20 yrs😥 It takes a lot of work to keep things in the home looking nice, and I am particular about things. I like things to look nice and new. To keep the set clean, I have always used window cleaner to wipe my chairs and it worked wonderfully. I haven't thought about trying alcohol but seeing this video, I most definitely will give it a try. Yet and still due to the changes in my personal life I need to find some new furniture that can withstand a hardworking dirty man😆😆😆

My tip yes alcohol gets out a lot of grime . Whether it's from kids or a restore project I took a scummy sectional my cousin was going to toss (it is only 1 and the frame and seats are still floor firm . ). Treated it with alcohol and scrubbed until my arms hurt lol . Then I went in for a second clean with dreft . It's gentle enough and back at it waiting on that to dry and then for a rinse . The sectional looks great . Only tip I have DO NOT USE ALCOHOL NEAR WOOD , Luckily I'm restoring my dresser and don't care that the alcohol messed up the varnish . If you don't want to throw away 1200 bucks it's worth the work . NOTE not a job for people easily discouraged , Also check fabric codes
@benshuetrim96406 жыл бұрын
Blot up with white terry cloth as you go. Spray, brush agitate, terry cloth wipe, rinse terry cloth, wring out and repeat until terry cloth is coming up clean. Dry best you can with a dry terry cloth to finish up. The dry cloth finish makes a difference. HTH's.

great video . .. I have the exact same couch and stains! You should first check your couch for a cleaning code underneath the cushion. if it has an "S" cleaning code then it's OK to use alcohol. Mine has a "W" which means I can only use water based cleaner like dish detergent and water or carpet cleaner not the alcohol method. if it has "S/W" then you can use either. an "X" means just vacuum. Yours can out nice though with the alcohol ! !

I have the same exact couch, and I had the same exact results. The alcohol does help but our next couch is leather. I was thinking of using something like a rug steamer to extract the "juice" and mechanically do the scrubbing. For me doing the work manually is not getting it. if you try that please make a video. thanks!

I have the same exact sectional. I love that it is so comfy, but hate that you can't take the pillows or padding off to wash them. I bought mine before my daughter started walking. She's now approaching 10 (you know exactly all the stains that accumulate during that age). I've kept it in the garage for the past few years and because it's replacement broke and is now uncomfortable, I've decided to bring it back in the house. I'm going to give the alcohol method a try, but would love to know if you found a more effective method. Thanks for posting this video.

So comfortable I cleaned mines with Shout laundry spot cleaner ,soap and water worked wonders I sold the couch when I dwn sized to an apartment I kept my living room micro fiber couch it is off white the same solution works except I make sure 2 use only white rags & white soap or clear dish detergent. I don't allow red pop N my place! And since I'm single now no one can eat on my couch but me , besides no one would care as much as me if I got an ugly stain, I'm a lil anal so if I did get a stain I couldn't remove on my off white couch it would be out the door PRONTO

You are supposed to use a scrub brush, that agitates the dirt and then you can suck it all up with a carpet cleaner. A sponge won't work as well.

I clean my Microfiber recliner with the hand tools of my rub scrubber, with the same solution I scrub my carpets with - works like a gem! no left behind wet stains or anything. no scrubbing, no effort really, they dry rather quick and without a spot to be found To me these didn't come clean, they actually look just as bad , it's like all that work, for nothing, looks like you didn't do anything at all, even though we watched you do it

Where did you get this couch / sectional? We bought I believe the exact same one off Craigs List. I'm wondering where it is from to find out what the cleaning code would be (it doesn't have a tag). It was a steal - and we were so excited to have a couch that was bigger & newer than what we had. I have 2 toddlers, and already the water spots on the couch are RIDICULOUS. They don't even spill juice or food.. it is just from the little one briefly putting his mouth on a cushion, or drops of water, or a maybe a spill from a water cup. The water marks are out of control, and even the smallest drop of water leaves a mark that is very tough to get out, even with the alcohol trick. I'm so disappointed! Who thought up this awful fabric?!
