I had WeatherTech's, Husky Liners and 3D Maxspiders and didn't like any of them so I kind of gave up on aftermarket liner options. I was just sticking with the rubber OEM Audi mats, but the team at Tuxmat contacted me and wanted to know if I was interested in giving them a go, and boy am I thankful. They have been an amazing addition to the interior (and my mental health!)

Great content as usual Rick. I like the Tuxmats and the fact that they have a short bib that extends under the drivers seat and passenger seat. I have the Husky mats in both my vehicles but I certainly like the Tuxmat.

I agree Paul. I had the Husky liners in my previous SQ5 and they warped on me. I couldn't get them to sit flat and I just threw them out. These are engineered to a much higher standard and I am a huge fan. The only question is how will they age considering the brutal conditions they will face each and every winter.

It is kind of weird I find it enjoyable watching you clean your floor mats hahaha. Being able to rinse and such with a hose inside the garage always one of those favorable luxuries people like us want haha. For some reason, the house I'm in, the garage wasn't pitched properly when they poured the floor so if water does end up draining in the garage, it actually moves toward the house instead of out the garage door! My indoor rinseless washing is always done very carefully haha. Thinking about getting one of those inflatable wash mats that would keep the water contained while I wash indoors and then just drain it outside when done.

I was in a very similar boat prior to getting the channel and trench drain installed. The water would flow to the door but there was one spot closer to the house that pooled. I do enjoy the luxury of having a system of water collection which makes things so much more convenient for me. Take care, Scott.

I love that cleaner. I have heard mixed reactions from others, but it is 100% satisfying for me and NO ONE in the world cleans their floor liners as much as me. So, take that for what it's worth!

Nice video. I bought a set of used Tuxmat. I was able to clean and restore it to the new look but it still has this stench smell. It smells like 50 years old basement in Vancouver(probably where he stored it). Any recommendations on how to remove this stench? Thanks a bunch!

These TUXMATS absorb a lot of moisture so my advice would be to really hit them front and back with the pressure washer and hang them to dry. I am finding that the salty water soaks into them and becomes difficult to completely flush out.

I clean the inside of my vehicle in the fall and then In the spring. The mats do not get cleaned all winter. Weathertech have held up great. But these mats look awesome

I think it really depends on the layout of the floor in your vehicle if the WeatherTechs are going to perform properly. In my 2014 SQ5, the Weather Techs did nothing to prevent spillage under the front seats. Every time I accelerated. I could see the water just washing its way under the seats blanketed the carpet in salty water which later became hardened residue. The Tuxmats offer a much greater amount of protection due to their design and engineering. I couldn't be happier at this point. I just hope they age well.

Hi Rick ! I saw your video popping up and said to myself : " Why'd he already need to clean his brand new mats?" Now I know... I did not realize you guys had to face with -20°C for several days ! We do complain here because of -4°C three days in a row ! We are nearly complaining every day to be true ha ha ha ! Well I have to say these mats are really game changers in terms of protection. They really fit the floor and give you extra protection around the seats, especially where you used to add some dark grey microfiber towels. I often wonder how I can handle such long cold stretches of weather. At least we have sunny skies pretty much every day of the year. These mats have been a very welcomed addition to my life since they look great, protect the floor perfectly and feel great underfoot. I have used multiple products on my steering wheel over the years. I have been highly satisfied with KCX Po, Gyeon Leather Cleaner and Adam’s Leather & Interior Cleaner. They all leave the leather factory fresh.

I appreciate your willingness to spend your time watching me tackle these tasks, Kai! I think this mat setup runs around the $275 mark. I received them as a gift in exchange for my feedback and exposure I could bring to the brand. I was a bit sceptical since I have had so many different brands of aftermarket liners, but these seem 100% legit and I love the look, feel and quality of them. Just need to see how much abuse they can handle and still look good. The WeatherTechs, Huskies and 3D MaxSpiders all became shiny, deformed and hard to clean over time. I will be sure to share my impressions as time goes on with the Tuxmats.

For some reason, the steering wheel leather in my car becomes greasy and shiny no matter what I do. I end up cleaning it at least every two weeks, sometimes more often if I have the time and energy. I guess I am just a greasy handed dude! I don't have a steadfast cleaning schedule, but I rarely go two weeks (especially in the winter) without performing some sort of quick detail. If I go more than two weeks, it really starts to put me in a sour mood.

Living in a salt/ winter/ cold environment--what are your thoughts on undercoating the Audi against rust? do you just rely on the OEM coating and frequent washes?

The underside of the SQ5 is a puzzle of insulated panels so there's very few components that would actually require undercoating. The most corrosion I see is in the wheel arches, but this has been my life for over 50 years, so I'm kind of over it. I just do my very best to keep it washed and hope for the best.

Yes, the Tuxmat liners are a welcome addition to the interior. They look smart and perform brilliantly. I am a huge fan of the Gyeon Interior Detailer. It is a "light" spray which is great for me since my interior rarely needs a deep clean. I highly recommend it for refreshes on a well-maintained interior.

What dilution do you use for the extra tough APC/degreaser? Also what do you use it for mainly? I got it in the glovebox recently and I’m just not sure what to do with it

There was a sheet with recommended dilution rates for different jobs that came in my package. I use it 50/50 for cleaning tasks around the garage and I think that may be on the strong side. I could probably get away with using a 1:4 dilution ratio.

That is unfortunate. I will say from experience that the amount of money our shipping companies charge is out of this world. I had a guy from Europe by a Rocky Mountain bike frame and he shipped it from Montreal to my place in Calgary. I was going to FED/EX, UPS, or Canada Post it to him. The best price I could get for it was $300. He ended up leaving it with me for over a year until his sister visited Canada and she picked it up to carry it on the plane.
