@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
Like you, I will open the door after using the pressure washer if the temps outside aren't too bad. This time, I just let my Frigidaire dehumidifier do its thing between the pressure wash and hand wash stage. It takes about 15 mins for it to bring the humidity down from 100 to 55-55. @RADGarage Жыл бұрын
Hi Dmitry. The dirt here is literally brought in by trucks. Every time it snows, dump trucks spread this mixture of sand, gravel and salt called "pickle". It is god-awful, filthy crap but it does help melt away the snow leaving us with dry roads for pretty much the entire winter. The downside is, a lot of it gets on the vehicles and finds its way into our garages. I have been doing pretty good keeping up with the washes, but the holidays were just too busy. I hope you are handling the challenges well in your neck of the woods!

That crud was really plastered to the body and it just melted it away. I don't see the harm in you grabbing a little bottle of it and seeing what you think!

I do very much like the video. Its made so well. Although something is bugging me. You foamed the hell out of all the washable areas, but neglected the wheel wells wich especially in the winter are corrosion hotspots. Is that something you don't do or just don't show? Cheers.
@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
I didn't spend much time in the wheel arches because the roads are still mostly snow and slush-covered so using up water and making my floor dirty. Once the roads dry out a bit, I will whip into a coin-operated wand wash and hit the arches. I will also perform a thorough Spring clean and I am contemplating removing the fabric wheel arch liners this year. It's just a matter of will I have enough time.

This has to be one of the best demonstration of how snow foam pre-wash works. Which of the processes took most of your time? Great quality vid as always!
@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
I messed up on a very critical shot. I was spraying off the rear bumper during the foam stage, but I had not hit "record" on my camera so I missed out on a very satisfying part, but I had enough other shots to really demonstrate how important a foam rinse is. The wheels took me an hour alone which was the longest process this time round. The filming of the foam adds a lot of time, but the foam stage itself (without filming) goes much quicker.

Do you ever do the undercarriage? If so what sprayer attachment do you use?
@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
I will do the undercarriage a little closer to Spring time. The roads are still snow and slush-covered here so it was just be a waste of water and time. I may swing by a coin-op and do my best to hit the undercarriage so I leave all that muck and gunk on their floor, and not mine!

Hello. Concerning the salty soup and humidity inside the garage, you might want to look into built hamber atom-mac and touch-less prewash. Cheers from salty Europe.
@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
I don't prefer touchless washes when it is this dirty. It is impossible to get into the tight panel gaps without using the pressure washer, plus I haven't figured out how to do the wheels during a rinse less wash. The humidity levels are controlled by a dehumidifier and the muddy soup ends up in my catch basin where I will deal with it later. It's not really a big deal to do a wash such as this in the garage. Thanks for the comment!
@Aerouu Жыл бұрын
@@RADGarage i should've realized the name will confuse. Sorry. It's called "Touch-less" but it's a powerful prewash concentrate. It's not a waterless wash. I mentioned it since it has rust inhibitors built-it in and the way it cleans is very suited to soil on the car. It kind of melts it.
@Aerouu Жыл бұрын
Or better said - you don't have to do it touchless, it's just an effective maintenance prewash with rust inhibitors, which may come in handy regarding salt and water
@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
I have a whole bunch of BH products, but I find them a pain to use since the instructions are difficult to understand at times. I'll take a look at what I have and perhaps I will be able to find and use this prewash concentrate you speak of.

@@RADGarageMost detailing products or brands in EU indicates PIR, but most people in North America follow it as dilution ratio probably due to lack of information on the english translated website or the copy paste description posted on the NA distrubutor of that product. PIR can be in percentage such as with Bilt Hamber (4%) or in ratio such as 1:10. 1:10 is equivalent to 10% PIR. Dilution ratio doesn't account for the extra water coming from the pressure washer so that dilutes the product even more. Yes following PIR is so much more expensive because you'll use more product to achieve that specially if you have a high gpm pressure washer but it's accurate to use PIR since you know the exact amount of product that hits the panel of tha car.

Rick, Happy new year. Here in the UK we have had a cold spell with plenty of salt on the road. Due to the freezing temperatures I have been just covering the car with Koch chemie green star and rinsing off to try and keep the worst off in between proper washes. What's your view on that

I think that sounds like a solid plan. Are you doing that at home or a nearby car wash facility?

Do you prefer a 40* or 25* nozzle on the power washer inside in the garage? Seems like everyone uses 40* but it would make sense that a 25* would produce less overspray when confined indoors.
@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
I have been using the 40° for years now. I have been able to master the spray angles so I deal with minimal overspray and the wide spray pattern the 40 provides equates to less deflection and blowback. It fits my purposes perfectly.

Such a cool video. I try to film my washes but they never come out remotely this good. Do you have another person filming to get the movement shots while you wash? I can’t ever go both at the same time. That’s my frustration. I’d love a behind the scenes video of how you do it.

I do not believe there is such thing as "rust proofing". The only way I believe you can prevent rust is by keeping your car as clean as possible and not letting the salt and water accumulate in areas where the paint is compromised. That's just the way I see it.

Ah, another RAD detail! Great work, Rick, and what a fantastic transformation! Question question about CarPro Retyre. It looks like a phenomenal product! But, the bottle also looks rather small, and it looks like you have to use quite a bit of it on any given detail. As an RTU product, do you think it's cost effective? In your opinion, is it one of those products that's just so good that it justifies the extra expense per use? I've never tried it, and was just curious. Thanks, Rick!
@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
I would say the ReTyre is the most expensive tire and rubber cleaning solution in my current arsenal, but I just love it. I'm a big fan of lathering cleaners, and this stuff lathers up well on all kinds of different tires and rubber components. I bought the gallon and it was something like $80 so not on the cheap side, but I wold suggest trying out the spray bottle and see what you think.

How do you like the gyeon ceramic detail spray? Can you use this on every wash or how much should you use this product thanks
@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
I love it. It is a lighter ceramic spray than some you may be familiar with. It applies and wipes like a regular detail spray. It is not like some of the other thicker sprays that really require patience when wiping on and off. I have no issue using it after every wash. Like I said, it isn't thick so you don't get that build up you may get with other sealant sprays.

@RADGarage Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can't speak on Audi's behalf but it irks me too. The newer SQ5 has even faker exhausts unless you wanna pony up a few extra thousand bucks for actual exhaust tips. Someone tried to explain it to me as a safety issue, but it makes no sense to me. That said, it is the only detracting element of this car in my eyes and I have been extremely happy with it since I brought it home in September of 2017.

Yeah, the EU awards manufacturers with "safety points" if the exhaust outlets point downwards which leaves manufacturers struggling to make it look good. I hate the look of the ports as well, but I have accepted it. I loved the B8 SQ5 a lot. The one thing that drove me nuts about the first version was the way dirt and debris would collect in the door jambs. I was always having to clean the inside of the door panels do to the design of them. The newer version is much easier to keep clean in that regard. Still a great vehicle though.
