Welcome back... to me. Yes, I'm actually welcoming myself back. It's been a bit. I shot a fair amount of footage, prior to this video, that was supposed to be an odds and ends "small things that don't make up their own video"... video. I have the footage; it's not been edited. So, that's what I was talking about at the beginning of this video. ANYWAYS, the last two months have been a whirlwind of alternating activity and inactivity: three road trips, the cleaning out of my own grandmother's house (also a hoarder but without the poops), and several weeks of some pretty bonkers bouts of depression and whatnots. Things are on the upswing, at the moment, so here's to that.
I'm at a temporary standstill with the actual re-building of the house as I've not got windows and doors (the ongoing lament of my life). Of course, even when I get those, I'll have to figure out how to finagle sheathing, cladding, insulation, sheetrock... well, you get the idea. I'm always treading water but I've not drowned yet!
There's more going on with my Instagram so if you're hankering for more of me well... that's where I'll be.
There's even a bit more on my Patreon; not as regularly but more behind the scenes.
As always, thanks for watching and I'll see you in the Verse.

We're in Alberta where the only outdoor work that gets done around the homestead from about now to next April or May is shovelling snow. Watching you is both inspirational and guilt inducing. I just watched a video the other night where the police warned this man several times about his JUNK that was about to end up on the road. He had it all outside and what a mess. He was a feisty old guy and yelled and bossed people around. He had everything from tiny things to a school bus and an old boat. It was amazing. I do not know how you do this all alone and all the disgusting stuff you find. I was happy to see you back on again and I always enjoy watching you. I can't wait to see this all cleaned up, if I live long enough. 🙄 I admire you for taking this on. You are an amazing person.

This reminds me of my brothers place not too far outside of Palmdale. He has I think 1/4 acre ? But it was in almost an identical condition. Bought it for a steal. Then added a new build on the front of the property and rents out the lil ol house :) The old guy that they bought it from was a hoarder for sure. I mean the busted down shack, the rat poop. All of it is reminding me of the good old days. I lived in it for a year (after it was redone) and I loved sitting on my tiny porch and having tea or juice or something as I talked to God. It was soooo peaceful. Hated all the dirt and tumbleweeds but when Spring came the fields were flooded with wildflowers and it was gorgeous! I enjoyed my year living there. When my bro bought it I swear I never saw so many rusty cans of nuts and bolts and screws and nails. Enough for all of Antelope Valley. 🙂

A huge clear message here is how much hoarding is waste - unused, or even unopened items left to water damage, sun bleaching, mould, rat-eaten and turning to powder. They were all once brand new items. Makes me think twice about buying in bulk items I don't go through that much - including pencils... And I've stopped it now, but I once had stacks of magazines I'd not had time to read - sat there, taking up space, using a little money, and guilt-tripping me by not being read while there were other things I was doing.

to be fair we don't know how much of this stuff was the owner and how much was dumped there by squatters. I've seen properties go from normal to overrun in 2-3 years.once folks learn they can dump there

I really like the fact that this isn’t sped up, it really gives you an idea of how much work and effort it’s taken to get this far. Well done! I’m constantly impressed by the effort you put in to things. I hope you get some long holidays again soon too to balance it out! I also really enjoy when you get past the squatters rubbish and start to find useful tools and things stored on the shelves, it shows that the chap who lived there really cared about his hobbies and his belongings.

The Gaeries always put a smile on my face. These clean up videos feel like a metaphor. Your generation cleaning up the mess made by my generation. So many things you pulled out of there are things I might have paid good money for when I was your age. Now they are totally obsolete and useless. Has any civilization ever squandered so many precious resources to make, transport, use (but not for long) and then dispose of …. junk.

Okay… I understand hoarding is a disease.. but really. One: what were all the paint cans from.. nothing in the inside house was painted. Two: I would be deathly afraid every time I picked something up off the floor something would jump out at me. Three: you’re doing great, sorting and hauling and moving all this can’t be easy.. and you seem to be taking your time and being careful and deliberate. I can’t wait to see the end project.

I adore how you’ve time the music cadence with your physical movement and editing of the video shots. Bravo.

The sheer amount of garbage is overwhelming! Your energy to clean it up is amazing. It doesn't look like anything is salvageable, so my first thought is get a hose ready and burn each shed down. You'll have less to pick up, the ashes can be spread out and you'll save time. Love your little furry friends!

it's extremely dangerous to have a large burn in the desert because the slightest amount of wind would burn the entire city down but yes, that would have been a lot faster 😆

Really curious about objects you deemed worthy of keeping/repurposing from that aptly named "craft room"(at first I thought you said, 'crap room'. Ha! Poop House & Crap Room seem to go together, especially since there was lots of actual critter crap in there). Wood turning pencils? Lathe turning old records? Old truck parts for sale on Ebay? Washing that rad green raincoat(?) to wear as splatter protection for future craft projects? That was like watching a thrift haul from a post apocalyptic haunted house.

i soooooo wanted the hanging clothes to be still useable but, alas... the raincoat was really cool but the plastic was flaking off 😞 the records were a really sad point: i'm keeping some of them for the time being in hopes that i'll think of a fun way to use them. i wish they weren't in such poor shape as i would have liked to have listened to some of them
