Watching videos like these are very inspirational for me to get proactive in de-cluttering my room. My room got out of control years ago because my brother AND my mom started putting their own clothes and stuff in there and also, because depression hit me when my dad got sick and passed away. I just have to take it one day/one step at a time. Everyday, I’m tossing some stuff out and putting stuff back in their proper place.

Hi Kararmi, I know you made this comment six months ago but if you see it, I just want you to know that Jesus loves you and He is with you and all moments of life, even in the midst of grieving the loss of your dad. Decluttering is definitely helpful mentally because as we physically organize things around us, it illustratively can help us with our thought patterns. I too am someone who struggles with mental instabilities and I know how hard it can be to feel as if you are imprisoned in your own mind. Jesus is with you and your pain and sorrow, just as He is with you in the joyful laughs of life. God can heal your mind, and take away that worry, fear, anxiety, and depression. Deliverance by the power of God can happen right away but the healing process occurs over a period of time because we have to unlearn mindsets that were doing more harm than good. God will walk with you every step of the way, you just have to ask Him to do so and He will because God will never force Himself on this. I know how it feels when it seems like everyone around you doesn't understand what you're going through except you. What are the people in our life who stay or go (by choice, or due to an unfortunate circumstance), God is always by your side. When you truly get to know who Jesus is for yourself, God will reveal to you how He was there the entire time. It might seem as if God is a million miles away, but He is right next to us. The Lord is there for you sis. Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, willingly decided to take our sinfulness and placed it upon Himself. The wrath of God that we all should've bore, Jesus took it upon Himself instead. He rose up from the dead three days later by the power of God (the Holy Spirit), and ascended back to Father God in heaven so that anyone who places their faith in him will not be put shame, will not be condemned. That is all by the grace and mercy of God. None of us deserves God and His grace and mercy, yet He beautifully bestows it upon all mankind. We all have a sinful nature. We all can be selfish, cool, disingenuous, and essentially evil. However, goodness and righteousness reside only in the Almighty God, who created the universe, and everything in it. Lean onto Him for guidance and direction Keyera. Lean on to Jesus, who is the Prince of peace. Lean onto the Holy Spirit, who is our Ultimate Advocate and Helper. Who is known to God who made you from the inside out and knows every strand of hair on your head, even the ones that fell out when you brushed it 😂 Jesus is our only hope, so lean onto Him, get into the word of God daily (the Bible), and see how the Lord will reveal Himself to you. God bless you love. 🥰💚

I'm deep into organizing my room this summer. Totally get the emotional attachments. I used to have a pair of shorts from when I was 11. I'm 31. Finally, I threw them out like a year ago. It was really hard to let go even though they were being held together by a literal hair tie and had multiple holes. Even so, it made me sad to see them go. Get rid of things little by little or in large hauls. I feel like that helps. There's no in between. No mid-range clean outs. 😅

I sympathize with the sock dilemma. You might try making a memory box. You can put stuff into it that's too sentimental to get rid of, but which you don't need cluttering up your daily life. It's a good thing to have throughout life, as you'll often go through it when you're feeling nostalgic. I'm 51, and I have things from high school in mine which always call back wonderful (or painful) memories. And I've created ones for my kids with some of their favorite baby and childhood things that they've outgrown but will hopefully lovingly remember.

OR "if you can find _____ number of things wrong with it, its probably time to let it go, especially if it cost however much and its past its justifiability" or 'if you forgot you had it, let it go" its really hard to do and i still have so much stuff but if its random clutter its probably not worth the stress of keeping

Dear Hannah, Thanks so much for all your content, for sharing it and just being so authentic; I feel you so genuine, pure and even funny in your videos; you cannot imagine how much I´m enjoying them since last week when I unexpectedly discovered your channel (Universe!:D). Yesterday I listened for 1st time one of your episodes and the one that for some reason caught my attention was “Playing the long game” (Universe again!). Afterwards, I just wanted to write a personal comment and say even a bigger THANK YOU: after what seems to me being a long period of solitude - but that I completely chose/keep choosing because I know deep down it´s what I need/is best for me (rather than taking the “shorter/maybe easier path” I think you call) -, yesterday when I was coming home I was really having a “down moment” (even kind of doubting); and I then read the title of your podcast and played it in the tube. Honestly, it just gave so much strength to keep going, made me smile and suddenly feel less lonely :) Thanks again for everything and all the best from the UK, Ana. PS: Your way of talking and communicating also gives me so much peace =) PS 2: I can see so much of myself in you, in so many aspects - including the deep peace I get when organising and decluttering! Your room and apartment look lovely :P)

I literally have socks from the 1990s I still wear! I can't get rid of them ever. I loved the place I worked back then. That's where I bought them. It was a cute, creaky little old folk art store. Sadly, it's gone now; even the building--which was a former 19th century bakery--has been gutted and rebuilt entirely, effectively torn down but they kept the "historic facade." So...all the more reason to keep my precious antique socks! Uh, right!?

I’m leaving for a two month trip soon and I fully believe that you should always clean and organize your room before you travel so that you can come home to a relaxing space. So this is the motivation I needed. My apartment is also my art studio so while the bedroom/house side of things is good the art side is a disaster. And quite frankly I really don’t want to come home to crusty paint brushed and moldy paint water. So time to get my butt in gear and pull everything together.

Im soooo sentimental like that too. What I've learned is they only make me happy by seeing them, not wearing them. So years ago I decided to just take pictures of things that give me nostalgia butterflies and make an album on my phone. Then get rid of them because a decluttered space is a happy space.
@virginiamartinez939810 ай бұрын
I have 3 suggestions: 1) Donate the newest socks and keep the ones you’re most sentimental about. 2) it was very helpful to me when another organizer said to thank your items that you were going to trash or donate for the service that they’ve given you. “Thank you “ … donate, or trash. 3) you like Candles maybe you can reward yourself with a new candle for getting rid of five pair of socks at a time?

The 'bye-bye bag' is my best friend! I have a bag in the bottom of my closet, anything that I want to get rid of, but is too nice to toss, goes in the bag, once it goes in it doesn't come out, then when the bag is full, it goes bye-bye & I replace it with a new bag & start again. I also heard for clothes, either turn the hanger backward as you use items or put them in the front, after a few months you'll see what you reach for the most & will make deciding what to do with the rest a bit easier. And the last one... Instead of spending a small fortune on cute little organizing boxes & trays, go through your plastic food storage containers & reuse the ones that are missing lids, that's what I have in my bathroom drawers & they're perfect for make-up, hair-ties, barrettes, and it's less plastic going into landfills.

Concerning the sock situation. I heard someone say it’s okay to keep something if it’s sentimental. You could even make a memory box and keep them in there. Write a letter about why you kept them. 😊 I have a tiny memory box where I keep music cds from middle school & high school. My first band concert ticket. My favorite bands merch, etc.

"They're literally socks" no because I went through this exact same thought process when I moved last month lmao I got rid of so many socks, but I had so many socks from book box subscriptions and little gag gifts that I didn't want to part with. I ended up buying a bunch of the same white and black socks to wear for daily use, and kept a couple pairs of sentimental socks that I didn't want to get rid of. hahaha I felt SO ridiculous, but they make me happy.

I absolutely love watching your declutter videos as they feel so soothing but as you were saying that everytime the room gets messy😂..so I've smthg to share~ I also recommend u to read "Atomic Habits",in that James Clear shares exactly this thing-if we won't change our habits of arranging things properly then we'll always end up creating our surroundings messy,so let's just try to be more mindful while using and keeping things back so that we don't have to do so many declutters later! Though I love watching them,they feel so comfy to watch!❤💫

How often do you do laundry in which you would have a fresh clean batch of socks? Even if it's only once every 2 weeks that means you only need around 14-17 pairs. Sometimes it's easier to decide what should stay instead of what should go. Pick out the 14-17 pairs that are you favorite and try to downsize the rest. Also if you have socks that you don't wear that you just can't part with, you can either make a memory bin you keep them in separate from the ones you wear so they aren't just cluttering up your space. Or you can put a couple of cups of long grain white rice in each one, tie or sew the top closed and use them in the microwave as small heating pads. They're great for sore necks.
