Cleaning the DUSTIEST Xbox on the Planet! | Xbox One S

How to disassemble and safely clean your Xbox One S. In this video I demonstrate how to take apart and restore your console to factory quality! This job requires a screwdriver set, T9 and T8 bits, 91% rubbing alcohol, and new thermal compound. Start by removing the warranty sticker on the back of the console. The bottom plate can by removed with a flathead driver, prying against the white upper shell of the Xbox. Next, we will remove the screws. All screws besides the black screws will use the T9 bit. The longer screws we start with hold the top onto the device. The next set of shorter silver screws hold other components to the bottom of the frame. The black screws require the T8 bit and hold down the heatsink. After flipping the console back over, pulling from the back, upward you can now remove the top of the console. Next, you can lift the RF shield off as well. There are a series of cables to unclip as you remove the power supply and the hard drive and disk drive. The X bracket on the back of the motherboard is removed by gently prying up the edges of the bracket. Make sure to hold the fan while flipping the board back over afterward!
All electronics were cleaned with 91% Isopropyl, compressed canned air was used to remove the dust, and micro-fiber towels were used to clean fragile surfaces, not all of the cleaning was included in this video. *

you can't even see the black plastic of the fan, it's that gross, I', gonna clean it some time tonight though, it's so dirty it doesn't even turn on, it used to sound like a cargo jet, and would over heat just by running the main menu. it's an old man.

Its from smoking indoors a lot of xboxs look like this and people will never know because they dont have tools or money to get there consols clean. Even my homie he cleans his house daily but he smokes indoors weed tabacco when we cleaned his xbox it was a shock. Its just a cake build up of dust and Residue left from smoke thays why its so brown. hope that helps a bit :)

I believe in you! Also I have found, occasionally the dust on the outside will act as a secondary filter once it has started to build up. Most of the dust is trapped in other dust and the inside really doesn't get much worse after a while

I have a sereis x I’ve replaced the thermal paste cleaned the entire console changed thermal pads and after about 25 minutes the console shuts off then when you power up it gets a improper ventilation message th console sits on a desk with atleast 1 foot of clearance on all sides any recommendations😞

Try your luck with mine,it was littered and caked with golf balls size of dust littering the inside and outside of the frame and case,sadly when I go to clean it I found out that it died do to being so dirty,took me over 8 hours to the thing

Man how is therr that much dust? Like what untouched for 10 year room did this sit in? Its impressive for someones house to accumulate that much dust. It had to be sitting somewhere in a storage shed or something for a long time. Not just in a normal occupied bedroom in a normal house or apartment

Isopropyl Alcohol is nonconductive and will evaporate cleanly. Many people use alcohol to safely clean their electronics including charging ports

I have an Xbox one and my problem is it will start loading the game and it will stop and the middle of loading the game and the Xbox one starts making a noise like dragging and at times it freezes the games why I'm so I put it and the shop in had a tech to look at it and he said that it was my hard drive so he replaced it with a 750gb and the one that was in it was a 100gb is their any thing that you can share that will help me resolve the problem that I'm having with games freezing up and the games stoping in the middle of installing them

I wonder... I've recently cleaning my series s and replaced thermal paste on it as well. I only removed the thermal paste that was on top of the chip and the fan of course, didn't touch the one that was previously "spilt" over the board from the chip since I was afraid that I'm going to damage some of the connectors on the chip that had been stuck in the paste. Does that matter all that much in terms of heating the board? Also, I kind of used maybe half the amount of thermal paste than you did in this video, maybe I used too little? Kind of used literally pea size (or a tad smaller) and spread it all over the chip to cover it whole myself before placing the fan on. As a PC gamer my whole life, I expected a lot better results in regards to console not heating up while playing a bit more demanding games, but I don't feel like it helped all that much (it wasn't too dusty though at all, but thought thermal paste replacement should drop temps down a bit more than it did).

Different themal paste is more or less conductive than others and this could be the issue you are having with your system performance. Additionally the fan may be losing power or any combination of these issues.

Yes, the use of that its to properly dissipate heat from CPU to the fan without it the CPU may heat more often which means that the performance of the console will be affected
