I bought 18 broken Xboxes - Can I Fix Them and Make Money? These Xbox One S and X consoles came from a liquidation company. I'm hoping to be able to make money off this salvage lot but there are several problems with Xboxes that I've never been able to fix so wish me luck!

About This Video: Xbox One S and X consoles are usually not too hard to fix. That being said there are several problems that they have that I've never been able to figure out how to fix. I think it was overheating due to the dirty fan. It is then more like turn off, open, clean the fan, turn on. Also Idk about xboxes but with laptops the fan gets clogged with dust. They might have tried to clean the dust with vacuum cleaner or compressed air and when that didn't help they just called it.

I've fixed a lot o laptops, there's one thing that's coming to my mind which could help with the power. The power coils itself could be broken, i don't know why it happens exactly, but the way to check this is to heat them up with hot air and then try to power it up, if it starts, the power coils needs to be replaced. Let me know if that helped you.

Guys I just fixed my first Xbox today and I’m super proud of myself. I’m thirteen and thought I’d give some motivation to anyone who is discouraged about not being able to fix something, so just keep trying and eventually you’ll do it. Edit: if I can do it, so can you ;)

@@alek8835I personally am a pc gamer and wouldn't buy consoles for myself but loads of people like them. the ps3 is an oldish platform and as a result, has lost a lot of value but that doesn't mean it's lost it all. remember ps4 has no backwards compatibility so people do still buy them when their old ones break so they can still play their old games. it is also a 250gb slim which gives it more value then some of the older models, even the charcoal black colour can help it sell better. just cause it is old does not mean it's worthless or got no value, if you buy them cheap enough which I did then you can still make some profit off it.

@Jason Kelly- It was an exploratory technique and he was correct, so... sorry you don't get it. No obvious burned diodes, capacitors or mosfets, so poke around where the OBVIOUS BURNED SHIT IS! What's so hard to understand about that? He knows circuit boards have layers and that the power supply is using at least one of those layers to transmit power to the MB. Charring and burning from a shorted connection happens when power is sent to ground via a path it shouldn't be on so he also knows that something in that area is shorting. Scrape the layers back and see if the short is alleviated. Voila! This was a good example of exploration and improvisation from a solid base of general electronics knowledge. It's brilliant actually.

I was a little surprised too, but you need to consider that circuit boards are just layers of copper conductors separated by non conductive layers. He essentially cut off the bad areas. Incredible. Once I see a non-plated through hole (NPT) that's shorted internally, that's it. There's no guarantee that the short is within scrapable distance near the hole, and you would have never been able to scrape all the welded metal plane(s) out of there. Typically, board designers put between 10-35 mils clearance away from NPT's just for this reason, even more if it's a power supply split plane (depending on current requirements). If it's shorting even with that (granted, damaged because something goes into that hole, wearing it out), it's over, "F". Literally sitting here yelling at the screen... "You can't do that REEE!"! If the whole plane had been welded, you would have had to scratch all that copper cladding off that G10 core material and it would have still been junk... an incredible save to say the least.

Had the One S that kept shutting off after a few seconds. Went to the forums and the suggestions were all the same: do a hard reset or a factory reset if possible, could be a fan issue and get it repaired. Nothing was helping and xbox support was useless. I was going to tear mine apart and look at the fan but by an off chance of re-wording my search help I saw a post that mentioned plugging it straight to the wall socket. OP said that the Microsoft tech that helped her mentioned that the One S had an internal power surge that could get messed up if plugged into a surge protector. Plugged mine into the wall socket and it worked! What the Heck!!!
