I’ve really enjoyed seeing all of the videos involving you and Spencer’s journey with starting a farm! I am roughly your age and have a background in the excavating industry. I started row crop farming here in Michigan on a small scale and am getting ready to tackle my fourth year. I have done similar improvements to my farm with a couple different excavators as well as a skidsteer with a root grapple and a brush hog (I may upload some video footage from that). It is awesome to watch you guys do a similar thing to what I’m doing, albeit my farm is definitely smaller. If I ever make it out to Iowa, I would love to check out your operation! As far as your “new to you” excavator goes, I have a couple of tips. When you grease the turntable, most manufactures do not necessarily want grease coming out of the seal unless it gets contaminated with water. Also, when digging, ripping out stumps, or lifting, try to keep your drive motors towards the back on the excavator. This will put less wear on your undercarriage as well as improve the balance of your machine. The fuel system debacle made me think of a similar event involving a Kobelco excavator that we rented a few years ago. I noticed that it seemed to be running low on power, and eventually, it quit running altogether. Turns out the bottom of the fuel tank had this nasty sludge and sediment buildup that was lining the entire bottom of the tank. I was definitely glad that we didn’t own that machine! You guys are doing great and I look forward to more videos! If you have any questions regarding excavating, don’t hesitate to reach out!

You guys made the right decision putting the excavator in ISO CAT controls because almost everyone operates international standard of operating controls. By using ISO you guys can get into pretty much anything and run it. So cool that you are fortunate enough to even have a farm to fulfill your dreams. I've been watching you guys since you were just virtual farmers in farming simulator 2013 a lot of things changed since then but it proves that the game can be used as a tool to train for real life situations in a sense.

Grant! You need to have that tractor dyno'd to be sure. We have a few tractors Eko tuned and the files don't always give you the hp they say. Our guy brings a dynamic with him and checks before and after results. Sometimes he needs to upload 2 or 3 files to get the hp gains they claim. For rhe money if double check with a dyno to be sure.

If you still have issues with the excavator, you might have dirt in the "rock screens" in the banjo fittings. If you pull out the banjo bolt at the inlet to the fuel injection pump, there will be a small screen threaded into the fitting as a last filter in case anything gets past the filter. There may be more than just the one in the system. I work at a link belt dealer, and this is one of the most common things we find when we get called out for fuel issues, as no one knows they are there.

I would run the excavator basically to empty and then change the fuel filters again. And just keep doing it and eventually it’ll clean itself out. Worst case scenario is you have to drain all the fuel and pressure wash the inside out and clean it really good. Good video.
@liftedburblife2 жыл бұрын
Could also by running empty suck up crap from tank in the injectors and it blows up the engine
@liftedburblife2 жыл бұрын
What actually you do is pump the fuel out into a barrel then vacuum the rest out then air out the lines new fuel filters if that don't fix it injectors
@gussoefje64302 жыл бұрын
@@liftedburblife I was saying it this way because I saw Andrew camarata did it on his excavator and it worked really good.

They had the perfect opportunity to drain it and didn’t. That was a mistake. They will be changing filters again sooner then later.

What you are destroying, are wildlife travelways and habitat sanctuaries. Without these you will increase the insect damage to your farm crops, because your insect devouring songbird count, that relie on those trees and overgrown areas for nest to raise their young, will no longer be there at their current population levels. Insect control by way of chemicals is not environmentally sound farming compared to the number of insects the birds consume, not to mention insect control by birds is free.

Man oh man imma say this iso and backhoe controls are both fast controls don’t affect the hydraulic pump so if people think one is faster than the other then they are dumb cause the hydraulic pump is the same. Good video aswell and don’t forget to grease that machine and clean the tracks off!
@mathewgrinnell73922 жыл бұрын
It's not about the speed of some pump. All it is doing is changing what joystick does the swing and stick in and stick out function. the operator chooses a control pattern and then runs it.
@midwestdairyfs31222 жыл бұрын
@@mathewgrinnell7392 yea but that doesn’t affect the pump on the machine it’s all about personal preference cause I run both controls and I find them both as fast
@mathewgrinnell73922 жыл бұрын
@@midwestdairyfs3122 you are correct. The speed is from being proficient in the controls. Not the pump you can change the hoses but it's still the same pump.

I run 6 Link belt excavators 330, 460, and 800 all with Isuzu's . The problem you have costs 89 cents to fix, You have a BANJO fitting connected to a rubber fuel line at the lift pump. Loosen the fitting with a 19mm wrench remove the clamp that holds the rubber fuel line onto the BANJO fitting . Inside the bolt that goes thru the banjo fitting is a plastic rock screen with a very small flat screw driver ,use a counter clock wise motion ,remove the rock screen it should be white in color , I will bet Dollars to Doughnuts it is plugged with crap from the tank . Caution there are copper washers on the bolt that has the rock screen in side it ,don't loose them or that fitting will suck air when you reinstall .This screen is on the supply side fuel line from the tank. Actually you can clean and reuse the screen ,saving you 89 cents.
