Can you make a video about why you use new plastic annually? From all the research I’ve done so far, it seems more cost effective to use a 5-10 year plastic mulch and drip tubing. That way all the infrastructure stays in place and you just plant, harvest, remove the old plants, repeat. Is it simply based on labour? Does it have something to do with rotation of crops? Love your videos man I have learned so much. Thanks!

@farmerdre2804 thanks. What type of drip line do you suggest. Is there something that would work for 2-3 years? I want to try half acre of strawberry next year. Junebearing and maybe have the same plants run for another season or 2. I remember a previous video you made I think you suggested 4or5ft wide row cover

@@cristobalpacheco4202 - the more you buy, the cheaper the price. Drip tape 6 mil , emitter every 8 inches (0.17 gph) , 10,000 ft roll cost about $300. 6 mil is the tiniest one , good for one , maybe two years.

@@newbie_nugs- you will have a hard time getting a plastic mulch for 5 ft beds. Typical mulchers are 3, or 4 Ft. Unless you will use the the Duraweave Geotextile Fabric. That should last you while (mine is 3 years old and still looking good). For durability you want a 15 mil drip tape , with emitters (whatever is convenient, 6,8,12,18 inches), 0.25-0.46 gph , roll of 500 ft will cost you $80, Roll of 1,000 ft will cost you $115. If your water is not hard you can probably get 5 years out of that drip tape , if you are careful. I keep mine outdoors, 24/7 /365, and it’s fine for 3 years. The biggest problem I have is with emitters getting calcium deposits and getting clogged up. Also drip tape is great to calculate your water consumption. Try to cover your tape , otherwise it will get super hot and for the first couple minutes you will be watering with hot water. Good luck with your project !

@@danielijeh2559 Hi Mate. We do amend the ground each year but only nominally. Most of what the plant needs is added to the irrigation system during the season, as Dre does.
