Don't need a grapple for tractor on a farm, its also called skidding, u take the whole entire tree and hook Chain to tree pull tree to ur "brush landing spot" this is where u skin all branches off the tree and then u pull log to ur "log plie landing spot, cut up ur firewood and the process is complete. This technique worked for many years for plenty of farmers and many of them still use this exact technique today...

The favourite part was the pigs, oh they look so happy, and they also seem to like following you around! We had a friend who bought big IBC 1000litres plastic tubs, and he cut the top of them and put them under the barn and house gutters, and use them to water his garden and animals with, every downpour he gets free water that they all can enjoy and use, maybe it might be a good idea for you as well since it seems to get rained onto your place now and then?

Scout says you don't have to wait 5 minutes for him. He will eat them now. I like how you reuse old things with new things. The old farm equipment with your new tractor 🚜. I know it's frustrating waiting on things you order, but good things come to those who wait. You will enjoy using that new grapple more when it comes. Thanks for making these videos and sharing your family.

Some pre flush & screens & barrels & pipe & FREE Water Could do a cistern from an off grid 12 0r 24 v solar well pump to pump only during the day & ferry the water or pump to a DIY water tower and have it run to needed places with a bit of planning. Possible to dig swales to capture water into small ponds given gradient in places where its needed. Sweat equity vs paying the grid for another bill.

I really enjoy the videos of your farming. The quality is excellent. Have you considered solar electric to power your home, shops and well or to pump and filter water from your pond? I have a similar size place about 150 miles due west of where I think your place is located in south central Illinois. My place is in the southwest Missouri Ozarks. Going solar has cut my electric bills from $200 - $300 in the winter and 100 - $170 in the summer to a $30 connection fee to the local electric coop. I have a well too so it’s nice to have no water and a minimal electric bill. I’ve had the solar 3 years and our power bill would have gone up by 15% last year but with solar it actually reduced the payback time from 8 years down to 6 1/2 years. After that point from the remaining 40 year life of my system the electricity is effectively free. Keep the fine videos coming. 😁

Have you thought about putting in some shallow ground water wells to water the animals and the garden? You could put them close to where you need them and power the pumps with a portable generator or even solar panels. There are videos on how to drill them yourself using PVC pipe and homemade mud boxes. Might be a good project after fall harvest when working is cooler.

You mentioned using an old well to water cattle - makes total sense as you have water on site. As you will need power to pump it back to site, apart from filters, throw in a strong UV light to disable pathogens (and get it tested) . With the right setup you could be water self sufficient. ( I grew up in farming area where the water main was “off grid” and after various solutions good filters + strong UV cleared up drinking water for community ). Seek professional advice, but you could save $$ here.

I learned to take 3 to 4 Benadryl for 4 to 5 days. Than just once a day will keep the Poison Ivy at bay. I use to poor straight bleach on it but I got so bad that it didn't work at all.
