eucalyptus oil will soften most sticker adhesives. I have the 331 receiver also.

Thanks Michael. A few suggestions that work for me: - I've found that the best stuff to remove sticker residue is paint brush cleaner (not brush restorer). In the UK, Polyclens. As it's miscible in water you can finish off by removing it with a wet wipe. - The reason hand sanitiser works is that it contains an alcohol, and good old isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is a safe choice for most surfaces, though some plastics can go sticky. - An old electric toothbrush is great for cleaning all the detailing in knobs etc. - Of course, try out anything new on an inconspicuous part of the panel first. And pay special attention to the decals / lettering as these are the most vulnerable parts and can really devalue your restoration.

Instead of the vinyl wrap. Sand the wood back and spray the wood matt black. Use 3 coats. It looks much better

Thanks Dennis, might consider that. Not to sure how good I am at spray paint, think its not as easy at it looks. But worse ways could re wrapp again.

Hey Mike, over the past year I've dipped into the vintage stereo addiction. I purchased a Kenwood KR 7400 and used it for a couple of months before I was deployed and had to be away from the states while my belongings sat all summers long in an un-air conditioned apartment for about three months here in steamy Florida. When I returned, I noticed there is some scratchiness as I adjust the volume up and down - it's only merely a nuisance, but I feel as though it's not transmitting the same volume power to the speakers as it was before. Is this something I'm merely imagining, or is this something that happens in conjunction with the scratchy controls? Thanks.

It could well be that the oxide and residue on the surface that the wiper touches in the control is causing your unit not to sound as loud as in normally does, as not making proper contact and adding to the resistance. Not for certain but a possibility and worth cleaning anyway. Also the input selecter / tape monitor/ speaker selector could be another factor and all need cleaning.
