If I used my stove every day of the year how often would I need to do a proper clean-out like this?
@pivotstove

Once a year for a full clean like this as long as you are burning good dry wood

Do you have a video showing how to clean out the extended firebox? Because we use that, we have lost a traditional "ash pan". Not sure how to clean out the ash when the stove is always going and the box is hot. A little shovel?

When the ash gets as high as the holes in the wood box.. it's time to clean out Best to do in the morning when there are fewer coals. Push the coals to the back and shovel out the ash Always use a metal shovel and metal bucket And do not put this bucket on the floor... only your hearth for it will get hot

Depending on type of wood, you should only need to do this every 3+ weeks

How often do you need to replace the firebrick?
@spencerwilton5831

JC Dragon only when significantly degraded, small cracks are fine. I don't have an ease, I use a Rayburn and my bricks last years, I find it's usually one or two that need replacing rather than a full set. You can even patch and join slightly damaged ones with fire cement which can extend the life by a few months.

I run my Ironheart on anthracite and logs continuously for 7 months a year. The bricks have needed changing twice after 3 years each time.

Spencer. I used to have Rayburns and, as you say, the bricks lasted up to 10 years. Ironheart bricks are not as durable.

The Heavy end goes over your fire !!!!!!
@pauljames9934
@pauljames9934 2 жыл бұрын
@@pivotstove it feels pretty heavy both ends!! the manual just about shows which way by way of a small drawing of the front/right side view!, there is a squared off quarter there above the oven, that I would have thought goes back left above fire where the flue is, what is going on there on the front right?, someone explain that casting shape for me please?? on the subject of casting, a simple F + R or R + L, in the mould would have saved me an hours research!!! or a clear drawing in manual, or any of you 3 who've got good videos pointing it out,... I HATE it when things can go back together in the wrong way when simple asymmetry at the design stage has not been implemented to prevent this!!! bad design!

@@pauljames9934 so the way you took it off, you will see one end is heavier and thicker than the other end Put this over your fire.....

@@pivotstove you've got a different hotplate!! and I can see why your being slightly patronising, as you pulled off a hotplate that was clearly heavier one side and this is easy to put back correctly!, mine is equal volume each side, but very different shapes.., SQUARE BIT GOES FRONT RIGHT, for anyone struggling like I did!!! you can see it correctly here, kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWS4YYqdgaZ0jMU, but I couldnt trust one person who may have got it wrong (understandably!!)..
