Cleaning Your Old Records with Paper or Wood Glue

I carefully and fully demonstrate how to clean old LP's, Records, or Vinyl (whatever you want to call them) using any kind of wood or paper glue. Let me know if you found this video helpful. Thanks.

Lacking an old record player turntable, you can use an old table top 'Lazy- Susan' type turntable to spread the glue. In order to spread the glue more evenly, you should use any old credit card or hotel key card. The strait clean edges and stiffness of the plastic card gives a smooth result and is easy to clean for re-use. Place a paper tab in the outer edge of the glue to more easily lift the dried glue from the record. When cleaning multiple records stacking then on a tall spindle with separator discs (3/8" or 1/8" thick plastic or plywood) slightly smaller than the label diameter between each record to dry. I have over 500 old records In my current collection from the 40's to the 90's that were stored for many years in bad conditions and have so much crap all over them, so you can imagine the ordeal I will have cleaning all of those. I'm not sure how they will come out after so long without cleaning of any kind. Some 90's D.J. copies if 12' singles ( 45 r.p.m. and 33 1/3 r.p.m.) are still in the original sealed factory packaging, Those are not in need of much cleaning at all but for removing manufacturing residue. The rest will be quite an adventure to be sure.

i have some old bing crosby christmas records that sound pretty bad. i am going to try this on one of them someday. they are from the 1930's 1940's. they are the old time non flexible type shellac record.

You wasn’t using that anti static gun correctly. You pull the trigger gently so there is no click.

it does work on certian types of vinyl but it never works like in the videos

How did the KZbin Geatapo let you play the Copyrighted Music?the reason you are getting glue where you are not suppose to, two reasons; you are spraying the glue WRONG! You spread it in the direction of the grooves, it spreads much more evenly. TWO; Use a plastic type credit card, that way it does NOT soak up the wetness. Cardboard IS NOT recommended!

Yes, I have since gone to a cake decorating platform with rollers and plastic wand. As for the music... I have no idea. I am not trying to monetize what I do, just give the world some simple things that do work.

That makes no sense at all. That takes too much work and time to damage your vinyl records. Just throw them in trash dumpster. That's more fast and simple after you damage all your vinyl records. I use Super Glue to glue my warped records flat on the turntable. So they won't damage my expensive phono cartridge and stylus playing my warped vinyl records. Super Glue is a godsend. I can't believe these people here. They certainly are not audiophiles.

@@mab7175 If you put the glue on your tongue and lick the record the nodules on your tongue are much more effective at getting into the grooves and thoroughly cleaning the vinyl. I heard the tongue technique gets 37% better results PER SIDE!!!.

@@bottomendbliss That's a brilliant idea. I have a friend owns a wild animal preserve. He has a cheetah he tamed. Cheetahs got spikes on their tongues. And they like to lick a lot with their tongues. That Cheetah will like the taste of Super Glue lick on a vinyl record. Those spikes on its tongue will get deep in the record grooves. Hmm😒. I'm wondering? If the spikes on that Cheetah's tongue are so long and sharp. They will cut completely through the vinyl surface to the other side. And ruin my cherished vinyl records collection.
