how can you pay the wood glue afterwards? wouldn't there be peaks instead of grooves?

Hi! I tried this, but my results were disappointing. I used elmers wood glue because that’s what we had around the house, could that have been the problem? The application process went well, but then it took over 24 hours for the glue to dry, and even then it still had some pasty spots; the peeling process got a little messy. The main disappointment came when I tested the record: it did not sound any worse, but it did not sound any better either. It’s an old record, and it had (and still has) lots of surface noise, consistent from start to finish. I was pretty sure the noise is caused by grime and not scratches, which is why I thought this would work. Is it possible it might go better if I get some titebond and try it again?

Update: I tried again and achieved much better results! Seems like the first time I used too much glue. Next time I laid a thinner layer; it dried a lot faster, maybe five or six hours, and the surface noise was dramatically reduced. Great stuff!

cant seem to get the glue off... did one side of the albums perfectly then switched sides.. same process kept the house at 64 degrees and cant get the glue off... seems to have boded super tight...made paper tabs and they just ripped off???? get a hairdryer or what?

Hi Lionel! I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you! May I ask, what type of glue did you use? I would suggest using a hairdryer over the record for a few seconds just to soften up the glue, you should be able to peel it back afterward.

@@vibefrequencyable Perfect! Definitely try the hair dryer first. Hold it about 12 inches away from the record and just use the low setting on the dryer to just warm up the glue. After about 10 seconds or so, you should be able to peel it back.

The spin cleaner in most cases would be enough to clean your records, what I do is use spin cleaner then listen to record, if its still sounds bad then wood glue it, for me about 80% of records i clean using spin cleaner don't need glue. But yeah the glue method does amazing job, just a very slow process.

I wish I would've watched your videos first on this method. I used Titebond original wood glue but it dried brittle and now I'm scratching my records all to hell just getting it back off. I don't know if the premium is a better choice for this but I more than likely won't be doing this on any other records since it didn't go well the first time.

if you put a few strips of thin card or stong paper on two to four equal points around the record it makes removal of the glue much easier.....

For the love of God.... Don't use a credit card. Just fold a paper towel till it's about an inch wide. You'll NEVER damage the record that way. Less mess too.

This gotta be the dumbest way to add to the process to clean plastic acetates vinyl records. do not do this BS. This guy probably hates his records … trust the source guys… why would anybody lie to you ???
