Its amazing how our parents bought stuff for us saying it would be a collectors item in the future and it not really worth anything!! Only the fact it was given to us by them is its worth. your daughter did a good job giving to other kids. she gets it. I gave my kids experience of going places. thats what i really wanted. they enjoyed it and so did I and we have that memory forever and guess what????? NO JUNK in my closets! yay!! good purge keep it up.

Oh my gosh, your mom did the same thing I did, bought collectible Barbies for my daughter. She recently sold all of them and made hardly any money back because they aren't as valuable as I thought they would be. Lesson learned. I've decluttered a bunch too. Less stuff = less to clean, LOL! Have a blessed week. - Arlene

Yes! We do donations basically every season with clothes since she is always outgrowing and then you’d typically 2x a year at birthday and Christmas. Now that she is older, the toys are fewer. Can’t wait for her to be over slime 🤣🤣

I saved everything from my girls even their school tie to the shirt with all their mates signed in the last day at school we cleared the loft a few years ago and when they saw the box they loved looking through their schoolwork I did keep a few but they said they don’t want them anymore but it was nice for them to look back on so they kept their sighed shirts it lovely memories for them so it’s gone down from a massive box to just a shoe box your doing a great job 👍👍

Stuffed animals are my pet peeve. I used to work at a nursing home. A lot of residents don’t have visitors and they live for Bingo. Idk about everywhere else, but my residents were obsessed with bingo to win stuffed animals for prizes. My kids donated all their stuffed animals to the nursing home so they could win them as prizes. I tell everyone I know about that because people don’t know that’s an option. Also- I was watching a video the other day about decluttering kids artwork and there is an app where you can take pictures for an album for all the pictures that kids want you to keep but you have no room! I don’t remember what it was called, but I’ll see if I can find it.

Great job on your Daughters room. Where does she do her home schooling now. That you took the desk. I no when i home scholled my kids a couple of years the distraction of the other kids in the same room would bother each other. If they wasnt all quiet. If my youngest wasnt i would have to put him down for a nap. Your little girl reaily got rid of a lot of her toys. ❤

One thing I really wish I would have kept was my old barbies. I loved barbies and played with them til I was 13. I sold them all in a yard sale when I was a teen and I wish I'd kept them for my daughters! I bought a huge lot of used barbies in Facebook but they aren't as cool as the historical ones I had before.

I always had a hard time with my son when decluttering his room, he would go behind me and get some of the stuff I was chunking out of the trash. I’ll never forget the time I was getting rid of a pair of old ratty shoes, they were maybe a size 3, the bottom was barely hanging on, I mean they were just sad looking, I actually couldn’t believe that they were still in his room, because I knew I had thrown them away years before! Lol. As I was finishing in his room, my daughter comes to the door and said. “ Mom come look at your son”. I walked into the living room where he was playing a video game and there were those ratty old sneakers hanging off his big toes! Girl, I turned around and went back to what I was doing. I still laugh about him and his Emit Smith Dallas cowboys shoes. You did good as always, looking forward to your next project with your mom, y’all look like you having a good time.

The idea of having your kids have a " yard sale" in their rod of toys and things they are willing to get rid of using dollar store money is awesome ! I started going through cards and sentimental items and had to ask my mom about some of my items. But as far as cards...i always keep the last year from someone or any that have special notes written in them. Girl if I kept everything I’d have a room full of cards! I do keep the latest ones tho and any prior that have special notes...for instance my mom wrote me an entire page in my 16th and 18th bday cards and I kept those but the ones she just signed I tossed. Not that they weren’t important but I know I have the others that mean more bc she wrote in them. I do the same for my kids. Having those special memories that were thought out by a loved one are very cherished and kept safe. I need to find some utube videos on organizing photos bc I have a ton! Send links my way if you find anything good!

And on another note. Intentions. My grandmother made me cabbage patch and Barbie doll clothes to use for my babies and I have passed them on to my daughters and if they are still in good shape maybe they can pass them on to their kids but in reality I think they were made to be played with not put away so we will play with them as long as we can😉

Yes, the amount of toys was very excessive. And the daughter looks too old for them anyways.
I was just going to suggest that an idea for toy storage could be utilizing totes in the book shelf in the room to take away from toy clutter in her room but it looks like you did some sort of system with totes. It looks so good! (Not that you asked for opinions 😅) she parted with a lot it looks like!
