This is almost exactly how we clean walls in the hospital. Of course we use different chemicals and we don’t wipe vertically, but starting at the top of the wall using horizontal strokes.

Thanks for the advice!! Horizontal strokes are better as the dirtier areas of the wall are usually the mid to lower sections, so if you wipe horizontally instead of vertically, you don’t contaminate the areas you just cleaned or disinfected. Thank you for that bit of wisdom! So helpful! I will be wiping my walls horizontally section by section instead of vertically!

The end is very validating as someone who sells paint! Everyone wants to put flat and matte in their bathrooms of all places and you'd be surprised how hard it is to convince people it's super impractical in general 😂
@ich81598 ай бұрын
The apartment I am currently living in has them and it’s a nightmare. I found dusting and steam cleaning doesn’t completely clean them, especially close to radiators and the only way is to repaint. 😢

@phillipcoo what is the best paint for the bathroom? Mine always ends up with oil stains over time.
@AltruisticWarrior7 ай бұрын
A high quality Matte paint is actually fantastic and does have the ability to be cleaned to a degree. It's easy to paint over damage and spots after renters and such without any excessively shiny spots. However, should never use it in a kitchen or bathroom, that's just crazy. I mean... at minimum eggshell to repel grease and moisture and even then.

Save time: Have multiple flat mop heads in clean water, enough water to dampen them, and drop the dirty ones in a separate bucket to be cleaned at the end of the project or day. I just discovered your channel. Wall washing used to be a routine part of homemaking when I was a girl more than 60 years ago. These days I just settle for wall dusting because I hate to see cobwebs. Interesting note: when it was common to have wet plaster walls instead of drywall it was common to have cove ceilings, rounded corners at the ceiling. My aunt told me that cove ceilings cut down on corner cobwebs.

I have a matte-textured wall in my bathroom, and toward the baseboard, there are many watermarks (from water splashing when we dry our hands with the towels on the rack above it). The watermarks combine with dust that sticks to them, creating brown stripes at the bottom of the wall. I've tried rubbing them off with just water and a rag before, but that ended up scuffing the wall due to excessive rubbing. Would Zep foaming wall cleaner work in my case, or is there a better way to handle this scenario? 🙏
