I just saw your video, nine months later, and I was glad I clicked on it. I always vacuum the carpet first and just like many others, I add the soap mixture to the tank, well after seeing your video, I put the cleaner in a sprayer and followed your directions. This not only worked, it cut my cleaning time down and my carpet looks great. Thank you for the tips.

I use a separate sprayer too but I use water and a little Clorox Laundry Sanitizer in the machine. The Clorox product is meant for the rinse cycle of a washing machine so it doesn't need rinsing. It kills bacteria and makes the carpet smell great!

I just bought a hoover carpet cleaner machine but I'm confused, why use a separate sprayer if the machine has one?

@@giselsilvabecause the sprayer in the vacuum puts down way too much shampoo. It's like dumping a whole bottle of laundry detergent into the washer when you only need a full ounces. Also, using separate sprayer gives the shampoo time to penetrate the carpet before being vacuumed up.

If you're dealing w/ pet issues, like vomit, urine or pooping, the Vacuum Wars guy consulted w/ a professional cleaner as well. Hydrogen Peroxide, the strong solution as a pre spray apparently works way better than any of the stain or odour removers he tried. He was testing w/ coyote urine and it got it all out, sometimes w/ some redo for stubborn spots.

First things first, let's get all your furniture relocated to a different spot in the house. Next, go ahead and open up those windows to let some fresh air in. After that, grab your vacuum and give your carpet a thorough cleaning on the highest setting. Then, spray on some pre-treat to help loosen up the dirt and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Once that's done, it's time to start cleaning your carpet. Finally, use a fan to help dry out your carpet. Happy cleaning!

To pretreat a carpet I just open that spot cleaning attachment hose door (I use a bissell proheat 2x revolution pet) and run the cleaner with it open, it’s gonna spray the solution and rub it into the carpet but won’t suck it back. Spray pump looks easier though if there’s one around

I love Brandon's vids and followed the directions to a T. Brandon, do you add water into the solution tank, leave it empty, or something else? For anyone who buys the Hoover Smartwash: know that it can be incredibly finicky with it's in 'dry mode' setting, whether it's 'dry only' or the normal dry mode. As in, it will say it's in dry mode, but the device won't suck anything up. I've had to turn it off and on many times to get it to do what it says it's doing. Be careful!
