How would you clear coat on if you are attaching a decal to your board?

Nice video! I’m just finishing my first boards, used polycrylic. I have a NFL sticker near the bottom. Even after 6 coats I can still feel the edge of the sticker. I can even feel the edges of paint lines. Is there a water based product that easily goes on thicker and won’t yellow?

Great cornhole board and video. I am curious, and may have missed something, apologies. In another video you showed how to stain the board. You applied a clear coat to the center unstained part of the board. Is there a reason to clear coat the center when you are going to clear coat the entire board? Love to see you do a video on how to make a cornhole board. Thanks again for making the videos, love them.

Hey Mike I clear coated the center with a oil based clear coat to give a amber look. The 2nd clear coat is clear it won’t change the wood color. I hope this answered your questions and thanks so much for your comment.

Gel stain is great and I use frog tape to stop the bleed

@@mikescustomcornholes379 Thank you. I thought I had missed something, and I did. Makes so much more sense now. Have you, are you, considering making a video on how to build a cornhole board? Would love to see, even if it is just a beginners tutorial (with tips and tricks), would be awesome. Love your work and the cornhole boards are awesome.

What finish of clear coat? Satin, Semi, or gloss? Which would be preferred for bag slidage?
@PhantomOPeace Жыл бұрын
Hey I read satin is best, I've been using gloss and it's coming too sticky of surface no matter how thin I try.

hello, is that clear coat water base gloss? or satin?

I wouldn't use a damp cloth then dry it, use a tac cloth, they're not expensive and you can get more than one use out of them

The finish he used is water based

@@johnsullivan9019 do you have to keep using a new foam brush for every coat? or do you wrap up the same one so it does not harden?

@@ZupE891 The polycrylic is water based so you are able to wash the brush out and reuse.

What kind of finish is on the side boards? Would you gain anything by clear coating them too?
@mikescustomcornholes3792 жыл бұрын
I torch the sides of the boards and then do a oil based gloss polyurethane clear coat.

So when you re-sand between coats, are you still using the same 120 grit block? Or something finer like 220?
@Codez222 жыл бұрын
I use 220 in between coats of the poly

Going side to side might work better for you. But you're supposed to go with the grain, instead of against the grain...
