just a heads up anyone new watching this, Cafe Latte has caffeine in it. I am getting a revision done on Aug 19- My surgeon requires a two week full liquid diet prior to surgery and he doesn't allow caffeine at all (so this was brought up at our pre-op meeting) just a FYI because I so wanted to get this drink in the beginning lol i love my coffee.... But also I have a hiatal hernia that cause me a lot of problems one of the reason I opted for revision to fix that, So I hope my surgeon is fixing it, but just like you his Asst. was like well if he gets in there and can fix it he will.... I told her this is the reason I am doing the surgery again. Sorry for the long rant but good luck to all fellow GWL peeps. This stage is rough. I stretched out my pouch so I dont have the restriction yet and I'm day four of the full liquid and its rough lol.

Thank you so much for this! Your energy and positive attitude is exactly what I need right now, I am almost two weeks post op for my revision surgery and I was feeling so down and had some regret even but watching this video gave me a new sense of hope !

Hi!! I’m so glad to help! Post-op can be hard! You can feel so out of sorts, like your body is so unfamiliar but you you will adapt! You’ll get used to your new restrictions. Biggest advice I have is to take advantage of this time period when you are feeling the highest level of restriction. It does lessen quicker with revision, at least with me it did. 🌷🌷

Hello I’m a vsg from 2016,now I’m currently on liquid fast that I put myself and i too have gerd but I decide to internal heal myself I honestly think it don’t matter what surgery u have we just got if they say avoid caffeinated drinks and eating gum, that’s what we have to do now there’s some things that you can do that would easing the symptoms like having some warm water with some baking soda I noticed that helps drinking some ginger tea and get a water with some apple cider vinegar

You are doing amazing! I am a HUGE cream of wheat fan! And I do add protein powder. I mix it dry with the dry cream of wheat then add to the hot water constantly stirring until well mixed. Helps to keep it from clumping! Great video! Thanks for sharing!😊

So many people say they now hate their pre surgery, favorite food after having their surgery. LIke they used to love eggs and after their surgery they hate the taste of eggs. Did any of your tastes change after having the first surgery? How about things you started liking after your sleeve that you hated (or vice versa) after the revision to RNY? This phenomenon is so interesting to me! lol
@ShrinkingJenn
@ShrinkingJenn Жыл бұрын
Hi, that’s a really good question. Before surgery I’d heard that too. I’d have to say yes. After surgery the role of food changes so drastically, it becomes a matter of eating to live in that it does take any previous fun foods out of the equation for quite awhile. Then, after so long without it, and knowing how bad it could make you feel if you do eat it, it’s amazing how quickly our taste changes for the good foods. I’m now 5+ years out from VSG, I can now eat just about anything I’d like but now a couple fries can completely satisfy a hankering, or a bite of this or that. I eat so differently than pre-surgery but it sort of just happened, I didn’t really think about it too much. Between the physical changes & the mental aspect, it’s a lot easier to say no thank you to dessert or a second helping and yes to a cheese stick or a packet of tuna.😊🌷

Oh my goodness, I know what you mean, and please know that it’s actually very common to have wls regrets in the first weeks post op. It is such an unfamiliar feeling for us and can be scary. I remember fearing that I’d never be able to eat “normal” again, and that I’d sort of ruined my life by having surgery. But, let me assure you that it will get easier! Think of your stomach as the size of regular straw that been cut in fourths. One of those pieces is what your food needs to fit in. If what you want to eat won’t fit in that little piece of straw, then do not eat it!! Soon your stomach will go from feeling like a regular straw to feeling like a boba straw, then later it’ll feel like it’s the size of a piece of cheese stick. Now 6 years post op, I still eat very small portions, but it just feels normal to me. Your pre-op normal is over, you will realize that your new normals are in temporary chunks of time, and change. It gets easier and easier!🌷

Hi!! Very good thinking. When I had mine, I had stocked up many different products thankfully. I’d recommend not purchasing too much of any one product though because it’s really weird how you could really like the taste of something before surgery, but after surgery not like it at all. Flavors of protein shakes & even Powerade can taste overly sweet, I had to water down a lot of drinks at first. Plus, post op, you must take baby sips or it’ll feel really uncomfortable in your tummy & may not stay down. Just remember that what you feel the first weeks post-op is only temporary!! It will get easier, and you will be fine even if you can only get a few sips in the first couple days. Good luck! I’m very excited for you!! It’s life changing!! 🤗💐

This information is very helpful, thank you! Did you put any sweetener in your Cream of Wheat? I have surgery 2mrw. I bought lots of the Premier protein shakes and Gatorade Zero. I was then told in a pre-op meeting that I couldn't have any of those drinks due to the sugar and sweeteners. Were you told anything about that?
@ShrinkingJenn
@ShrinkingJenn 10 ай бұрын
Hi!! Sorry for the delay in responding, didn’t see your comment. But re the sweetener, I actually prefer it w/ just a smidge of butter & salt, but sweet sounds good too. In terms of Gaterorade Zero & Premier Protein, those don’t have a lot of carbs but they do have artificial sweeteners. My nutritionist gave my group the green light as long as we weren’t only drinking those options. PostOp can be hard to get anything down, and going through the phases you will find what your body tolerates and what it doesn’t. A protein shake you enjoy now could be disgusting to you after surgery, it’s a lot about being in tune to how our bodies respond to certain drinks & food. My brother & I both had gastric bypass in the same week coincidentally, and though mine was a revision from VSG, he has far more intolerances to this day. Dumping syndrome is a real thing & if your body can’t tolerate the artificial sweeteners, you’re going to know it. Mine didn’t seem to mind. 😉 Good luck with your surgery & recovery!! Let me know how it goes & if you have any more questions!🤗💐

I love the Powerade Zero and Caffe Latte too!! I went for my 2 week postop yesterday and I have a small hematoma under incision but it is not anything to worry about. When can you have caffeine? I think the caffee latte has some in it. Hugs:)

I just had my 2 week appt too. Will post about it tomorrow. :-) Doc saw my rash & was surprised at how widespread it was. Thankfully it’s improving every day! Glad to hear your appt went well. Sorry about the hematoma though. Maybe a warm compress would help soothe it a bit. 🌷

@ShrinkingJenn
@ShrinkingJenn 3 жыл бұрын
First off, congratulations on having your surgery!! You do need to follow your doctor‘s recommendations, but with my doctor he wanted me on clear liquids for three days and then I was able to switch to full liquids. On his plan cream of wheat was considered a full liquid as long as it is made a little bit more liquidy than usual. If this is your first bariatric surgery I would highly suggest starting very very small with cream of wheat because after being on the clear liquid only, cream of wheat could feel like a brick in your stomach. I would definitely have a very small bite and then wait a bit before having another bite. It’s crazy how a couple little bites of cream of wheat can feel like a feast when you’re so a few days from surgery. 🌷🌷
