Is the LCD screen sealed with a gasket or just glue? Can this glue be dissolved with isopropyl alcohol?

you mean the original front LCD? Yes, the adhesive is normal double sided adhesive, I think it can be soften by alcohol

I asked because I fly fpv acro quadcopter's and I'm interested in reducing the weight of Gopro's.There are already people doing it and using TPU and getting GoPro 6 under 30 or even 20 grams! Do you know how the lens is mounted on the pcb? Is it a screw thread? I'm asking because I'd like to use the gopro as a macro camera and therefore need to adjust the lens. It would be awesome if you could share your video in real time. Do you think the front cover could be removed when drilling through the front till the screwes and loosen them with a screw driver. It looks like the front is only tightend by the small screws?

I think it still ok, as long as the hard plastic inside the rubber is tight to the middle case, and there is no crack.

the rubber pad was injection molded to the case, so it's not a spare part, I reuse the pad. You need to cut out the pad, but this will make it not water proof anymore.

if you are talking about the clear case, sorry, there are no link for that, since I made that from zero. For the original case replacement, I bought them from a China online shop "Tao Bao", they only send item to China, Hong Kong or Tai Wan. If you need the original case, I think you can easily find them on Amazon or Ebay. Thanks for watching bro.

Thank you. Good video. After destroying several Hero 7 faceplates during tear down, I’m able to remove them with minimal damage to them. The secret is to start on the lower right corner and completely detach the area below the lens area. The glue is soft. I use a thin and wide pry tool. At this point, I work my way towards the LCD screen. I use a square blade exact-o blade to cut the glue around the bottom of the LCD screen using caution not to cut the LCD ribbon cable or scratch the LCD. Once the bottom is free, I work my way from the lower left hand corner upwards using the same square cut blade. At this point, I go to the area around the outside of the lens on the right. There are only a couple of glue points. The face plate can gently be pryed upwards and the glue between the lens and LCD is visible. Using the same square cut blade, the glue can be cut, leaving area above the LCD attached. It can be cut. It took some patience and practice. Our good friends at GoPro do not sell replacement face plates for the Hero 7 Dusk White edition. If you have to repair one, you are screwed. Thanks GoPro. Hope someone finds this information useful.

Very cool. I found your video because I dropped my Hero 8 a couple feet and the front bezel now has a .5mm play in the top right corner. I was worried it might not be water resistant anymore. Looks like mine should be ok though. Edit: It would be cool if someone could modify the firmware to make the front lcd say Hero 8 CLEAR 😀
