Cooler weather next week, if not more positive results at least more comfortable. Good luck Rick.

I fished Saturday. Surrounded by BBT tourney boats. I got 9 fish in 6 hours off my kayak. Mostly 4lb fish. I searched hard for scarce grass.

Nicely done!

Sorry your having a bad year Ross, I had a thought about the fish in the live wells during tournaments, What about taking a picture with a measuring board and tournament tags like they do in the Kayak tournaments, or something similar with a scale. the picture time dates the photo. Well maybe a hybrid of the two. Thanks for the reports, much appreciated, hopefully it's a good fall!!

Thanks Jeff, It’s all good, the flip side is the fishing pressure weekdays has been light. The current weigh in process is antiquated. I’d be way happier if the summer tournaments were canned.

I was out there last month in triple digit heat and saw water temps as high as 90. Two days and I got skunked (was fishing around Redbud). It was brutal.

It’s been one of those years Kris.

Thanks for another great report Ross. I definitely agree that they shouldn’t keep fish in live wells for tournament’s, it is not good for the the fish right now for sure. And I think the weed beds aren’t going through probably because the sun can penetrate through the water to get to the bottom of the lake. Just an idea.

Good thought Garrett.

Actually small correction. BBT has a back to back this weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday.

I was confused by the lack of weed beds as well. I just assumed it was a result of spraying. Areas that I have consistently fished weed beds year over year are barren. Also, you are not alone. I can't put anything of consequence together for the life of me. I keep telling myself it's not just me :).

Took an entire year off from fishing CL. This year has been 💩! Saved me days of being 😡 from these mischievous 🐟! Hope all is well!

Another multiday BBT tournament this summer. That's two in less than a month. Unacceptable. It should be mandatory for them to post penalties or fish death counts.....but they don't.

Here is the good news…it’s already scheduled for ‘24.

The airboat sprayed the grass, caused a fish kill west of roadman slough

Appreciate the info, Thanks!
@db98189 ай бұрын
Really don’t understand the widespread spraying. A lot of these grasses/weeds are native and filter the water, spraying the nonnative I understand. Lack of weeds and creates anaerobic water that also breeds algal blooms.
@clearlakeguideservice25099 ай бұрын
@@db9818 I don’t know what you saw so I can’t comment on it. I know there are two programs. One specifically targets hydrilla where they monitor where it has been found in the past for reemergence to treat and also surveys for new growth that leads to an approx 1/4 acre application. The other is for land/dock owners (HOAs) when the county will issue a permit to apply herbicide and that program kills everything where applied.
@db98189 ай бұрын
@@clearlakeguideservice2509I’d like to see the county only issue mechanical removal for HOA’s there’s zero need for chemical treatment just to get your boat in and out. Funny to because these are the same people who complain about algae and bacteria blooms, yet kill off the very thing that filters the nutrients.

Ross, Usually I am a quiet guy and keep my opinions between me and my wife or kids, but this tournament crap is just making me sick. How many bass are going to die during the next couple tournaments just so some guys can win 50 bucks and a gift card to Chili’s….something needs to be done to protect our fisheries. There are plenty of methods to record catches and release. Someone needs to step up and make a change….ok I’m done….
@clearlakeguideservice25099 ай бұрын
Hey bud, completely understand. I’m not anti-competition but I am absolutely against these summer events. The bulk of these guys I do believe make an honest effort to keep their fish alive, it can be done. But what happens waiting for weigh ins, lines, etc….a stressed fishery has another stress to deal with.
@lmramos449 ай бұрын
@@clearlakeguideservice2509 Agree. It’s not on the anglers, it’s on the fish and game to step in and show some leadership. With changing climate comes new rules. Clear Lake is an absolute jewel of a fishery, for goodness sakes let’s not let it become a tragic story. It already deals with unprecedented pressure…..In my lifetime I have seen the Salmon and Striper fishing decline terribly. We have to learn from our past mistakes. Tight lines buddy.
