Kara Smith is no stranger to hunting down bad guys. She’s spent the last 12 years doing it, starting as an intelligence analyst with the Air Force where she deployed supporting counter-terrorism operations tracking and locating terrorists using state-of-the-art military technology.
After leaving the Air Force, Kara worked at the NSA and then at the FBI in the Terrorist Screening Operations Unit as a Senior Intelligence Analyst assisting the FBI in identifying and monitoring persons on the terrorist watch list.
Kara has helped take numerous traffickers off the streets by providing support to local, state, and federal law enforcement. Whether from her office at DeliverFund or in the back of an undercover vehicle, Kara provides real-time information about the location of traffickers and their victims, using P.A.T.H.™ (Platform for the Analysis and Targeting of Human Traffickers) software developed by DeliverFund, in-depth social media analysis, and other cutting-edge technology.

@@Paul-gf9fc unfortunately there's a lot of teacher like that. i witnessed it all through high school. kids getting physically bullied and teachers watching it happen and do absolutely nothing about it.the worse was seeing kids who tried to defend them selves from, physical bullying end up getting in trouble even a few getting the cops called on them for trying to defend themselves from getting assaulted. mean while the ones doing the bullying get away Scott free. guidance counselors pushing college so hard like their pay depended on how many kids they got to apply for college. mention trade school, no college or just go into the work force and they drop you like a bunch of bricks.

Most people in those fields, you gotta remember, spend their lives from age 3-70 in various positions in academia, such as it is in America, so when you tell them that they probably really do think you’ve elected to drop out of human society as a whole. Maybe even think you are threatening to jump off the edge of the universe or something. They’re not being mean or evil: they’ve literally devoted their lives to education as an institution. It’s like how many servicemen feel if you burn the flag in front of them.

Great discussion. This problem is far bigger and broader than most people will ever recognize. I noticed when my daughter turned only 11 years old that Some men started to look at her differently... She was not an early developer physically nor was she flirtatious... Don't ever think your daughters are not of sexual interests to men until they are teenagers ... And don't ever think their female friends won't get them into that kind of danger .... Young girls often think they are not valued unless they have a boyfriend.... People really need to talk to their young girls and educate them. That's what I did and that's what saved my daughter from sexual abuse .

@1:01 Regarding Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) operational area of about 7 kilometers around the airfield. That probably has to do with Air Base Ground Defense (ABGD) operations conducted by Air Force Security Forces. In the operational theory of assistance between the US Army and the US Air Force, the Air Force provides air to ground attack for the Army while the Army is supposed to provide ground defense for the Air Force fields. Since the theory is just a theory the Army has never really provided ground defense for the air fields in forward deployed areas and the Air Force attempts to field a "light infantry unit" under the name of Security Forces to do so. USAF Security Forces are actually the largest organization within the Air Force in terms of manpower. Beyond the 7 clicks would become Army or Marine battle space.

@internet_internet
@internet_internet 3 жыл бұрын
I was an A-B student who had zero history of trouble, and I got expelled & sent to essentially a juvenile detention school in TX at the age of 16 for bringing an old beat up rusty hand-held drywall saw to school to give to a pretty female as an inside joke/form of flirtation between me & her. She kept asking me week after week to bring her one of my pocket knives/multi-tools that I always kept clipped to my pocket/belt, but I couldn’t pick one out that I was willing to part ways with or that my dad might notice missing, so I went out into our garage & found the old drywall saw, & thought that it was so stupid that it might make her laugh. There was zero negative intent. Another female who was the other “rival pretty girl” in the class texted her friend to go tell the campus cop that she had a knife in her bag… We both got expelled & sent to the juvi school. Our school administrators/principals didn’t care what our side of the story was. They decided for themselves what they thought the reason for bringing it was, and they couldn’t have been more wrong. Our voices didn’t matter. On day 3 at that juvi school, a blatant police brutality incident occurred in front of entire cafeteria when two presumably rookie cops violently detained a tiny middle-school-aged Latina girl for absolutely no reason. The middle-school Latina girl was in a classroom by herself with no teacher present to escort her to the cafeteria for the middle-school lunch period (we all had to be escorted by a teacher/staff member). So she missed her middle-school lunch period, and escorted herself to the cafeteria towards the end of the high-school lunch period, and the first thing that she did was walk up to the principal & respectfully explained the situation without even the slightest amount of disrespect. The principal was an absolutely maniacal disrespectful power-hungry psychopath, and he simply made one hand motion with both of his hands motioning for the two young cops to essentially “get her”. So the two young cops took it upon themselves to follow the non-verbal instruction/order from the principal, grabbed the young girl (first point of physical contact), pinned her face against the tile floor, hit her in the back of her ribcage with the baton, and then tased her in the back of her other ribcage & put handcuffs on her. All she did was request to get her lunch. She didn’t even raise her voice until she was screaming for her life. After that, I told my parents what happened, & that I was never going back to that “school”, even if the police got involved. They agreed, and signed the papers to unenroll me. I got a BS online diploma that cost $200, and went straight to community college, which didn’t work out. Then I joined the Navy at 18-19 hoping to become a SEAL, but that didn’t work out either. May god enact proper judgement & restitution upon the monstrous men who were responsible for violently attacking that young girl without warrant, and screwing up the minds of God-only-knows how many of us high-school students who witnessed this evil in the cafeteria.

As someone involved in rescuing survivors of commercial sexual exploitation (in cooperation with law enforcement), I appreciated the accuracy of so much of what Kara had to say. The average age of a girl coerced into the life is shockingly low and their life expectancy is sometimes also low. Victims/survivors surprisingly can come from all walks of life. Kudos to this podcast host for being willing to learn a bit about this world. Like Kara says, once your eyes are opened, you can easily spot exploitation. If you're willing to look, you'll find trafficking on the street, on the internet, in massage parlors, strip clubs, adult films, major events, etc. The big positive change in law enforcement in the past 15 years has been the recognition that many/most of these women (and sometimes men) are actually victims of trafficking crimes.

You are quite literally NOT the same flesh mobile at 40-45 as your were as a teenager. Every cell in your body gets replaced something like every seven or eight years (barring the germ line cells and neurons). Nip everything in the bud around you as well. It's good practice for bigger bullies, to go after smaller bullies 😈😈😈😈😈😈. I never had any bullying issues in school. There's a lot on this that really kinda gets to me. My adhd often takes over and my friends in the past and now even my wife is surprised at my inability to mind my business when I see ppl in distress. An old lady falls down in a parking lot? I'm running over to check on her and make sure everything is okay or if she needs medical treatment. I see a guy yelling at his girl and posturing aggressively? Yup, I'm probably getting loud and backing him down. I'm not a big huge guy but if someone is gonna get hit, let it be me because unlike the scared woman he's yelling at, I'll press charges and see if she can get away while he's arrested. Kid getting drug away by an adult, yeah I'm asking some questions and likely recording it. It tends to take a great deal of mental energy to do nothing.
