At that time there was a group called the Ace Board or Ace Committee. To get in you had to have upwards of 250 jumps and you had to jump 5 induced malfunctions. Great show You guy's are awesome!

I hope Mike knows not every civvy thinks he’s a “psycho” for having been to war. It’s my personal belief, as a civvy, anyone who gives a sh*t about our veterans should know better than to make assumptions or ask certain questions. - My best friend (since age 13) is a Navy Veteran and contracted in AFG for six years. I’ve never once asked him about his time there. I let him bring it up. When he does, I listen and ask questions when necessary. I’ve seen some of his photos from his time there. He did some gnarly things but I also know he had some bad days as well. Through it all, he’s still my best friend and still my brother from another mother. - Not all veterans are psychos and civilians who truly care already know that.

Guys, I just loved this - like being down the pub with your mates chewing the fat. The point about having a close group of trusted friends is true, but it can be hard to find that and keep them. And whilst I have never served I defined myself by my work/reputation too - only to find it is the road to ruin, I thought being fully invested in the job and being the best would be enough and for the most part it was, until it wasn’t. As the Stumpfmeister said, its about trying to get and maintain that balance in life and being willing to adapt and evolve to your situation and you as you change/age/grow etc.

I spent 10 years in the fire dept. I spent my career seeking out what I believed to be the “most badass shit” at the time that was FEMA task force teams . On the east coast that was Task Force 1. I did some sick training, got to play with some great fucking toys, loved every second of the higher level training. Our cadre was old, kinda mean and certainly needed some kind of psych eval. I learned skills that will serve me for the rest of my life. I’ve by no means have been to war but I have seen the human cost on the civilian side. My struggle was real and humor dragged my dumb ass through it. Thanks for all you do. I stay grateful, stoked and ready to roll thanks to guys like you. Keep being real and giving zero fucks. Hunters guiding gatheres, nothing more natural. really upsetting me
