Sgt. Best, I first "discovered" your channel in '13. After watching a few vids I called my childhood best friend/Ranger buddy (10-97) to tell him about it. I later found out, that phone call pulled the pistol out of his mouth, and your videos helped keep it out and gave him something "good" to talk with me about. Thank you sir for helping me (although unbeknownst to you) help him and us, he is now married with two beautiful kids.

I never knew how to respond to people that thanked me for my service. I felt like it was hard to know what to say when someone is thanking you for having the time of your life. I can't remember what I was watching but, someone thanked the service member for his service and he responded, "thank you for your support." I felt like that was a good response.

I have been saying thank you for your service to any military personnel that I see. For me it is respect for what you do and the sacrifices you all give so that I can have the freedom to garden and cook my heart out in the comfort of my own home. My father was in the Air Force, my husband was in the Army (rest in peace Sweet Baby) and several of the men and women I went to school with were in the service also. The thing I notice about military people is that they are more well rounded. People who never leave their own "bubble" as Mat stated, are very much lacking in sensitivity of other cultures and people. My husband was in Korea for over 2 years, what he learned there was just how great America is. I'm beginning to believe that everyone should have to give 2 years of service for their country. Not necessarily war service, you can build wells for communities that have to walk 5 miles one way for clean water. Some sort of service to better your understanding of just how great you have it here in America. I love Mat Best's humor. I got into BRCC because of his hilarious videos. He always makes me laugh. I love that. I will be buying your book, and I wish you both much success in your future. J in Oregon

Back in late 70s, my HS library had Leatherneck magazine. There was an article about new USMC boots. They were suede/rough out brown. It mentioned the WW2 rough out boots. It never came to fruition. During my time, (86-90)I kept wishing for those boots. But similar to old timers who can brag about being in the brown shoe Army, I can say I was in the black boot Army.

ANDY I really like it when you divert to Instructor Stumpf. Could you maybe do more of this? For example at 23:00 Mat misread the question and you hit a very instructor like reset on him. Or on Rations and wine Buck asks if he could have a different drink and you gave him the Buds instructor soft, hard, no. It's super cool to see how the instructor can play on emotions to invoke a response like that and I guess it's just an interesting look inside the challenge it is to get through seal training, and not just physically.
