Love Audrey’s dad in these videos. What a gift to hear his history and help create your family’s future! I look forward to seeing how you repurpose everything. The tub absolutely should be an outdoor hot tub or water feature!

Amazing how your father remembers what all those pots and jars were for! The wooden floor tiles I think would be good in a center pattern on the reception floor, to make sure everyone sees them. And the plum jars maybe flower vases also in reception.

I could listen to your dad all day, Audrey. I can totally relate to those memories. Very similar to my own. I look at my grandmother's pots and pans and remember everything that she cooked and served in them. So special.

I loved hearing the stories from your dads past. What a good life they had. The wood floor tile could be redone into table tops maybe, just a thought. Thanks again

Hello Sam and Audrey, It's nice to go down memory lane with Daniel. And the things you found when renovating . Harriet and I found a lot of things as well. I wish I had my mom and dad around to tell us a story about them. You guys are doing a great job in restoring the wood and tiles that you can. Enjoy your time back in Canada. Sending you much love from Castela Branco. Hot and Humid. Harriet , Jim and Yuki .

The floor square tiles use as feature points on the reception floor, throughout the entrance area and a plaque to educate the visitors of their history. Have various features throughout the hotel with explanations of the importance of preserved items. Love to watch it all, well done!!

Love to hear you are going to recycle lots of the materials. That tub must be cast iron if it is really heavy, I would restore it and put it in one of the rooms geared towards families because it is hard to shower small children, a bath would be great in room like that. I would create a wall panel with the restored wood flooring and display your family photos on it in the reception area to tie in the history of your family to the property. It is definitely coming along nicely.

Oh please, have a Family Museum on your property with lots of stories and photos of the family of your Dad, dear Audrey!!! Can you please already show some photos of your grandma and your Dad and his siblings? As a historian myself I love the ideas of your father!!! You can use the wood tiles for decorating the family museum and the huge bath tub for planting beautiful flowers in it.

Not sure about Argentina but here in the US the adhesive material under the tile from that period "black mastic" almost always contains a high concentration of asbestos and is best left in place, I would not chisel it or do anything to create dusk as it is quite dangerous to your lungs. Having said that I appreciate Daniels drive and passion to honor his Dad. Love will conquer all.

Congratulations and good luck with your project. What a wonderful opportunity to preserve your family history. I love that you are reinventing the pieces you gathered. Perhaps a focal wall with the beautiful wood as the highlight. Batten and board or a counter or bartop (with something to protect the finish). The wood can also be used for panel. Once again. Good luck!

Great work .. Recycle maximum .. that gives you real satisfaction... Floor skirting looks good in wood .. or table top .. or an counter .. Old tiles can be used in walk ways or Parking space or storage rooms floor

It’s so cool to hear the history but you do need to let some things go. Just my opinion. If you have a use for it keep it. If you don’t. The. Move it on.

Daniel had a lot of homework for the channel's viewers.😅 Vischacha are some kind if chinchillas but I'm not sure if Daniel and his brother were hunting the "plains" or Wolfsohns variety. Curious to know why the water situation has deteriorated, such that the bathtub can't be used as a bathtub. I'd go with hot tub as the repurposed use. Speaking of deterioration, I'm also wondering about the Argentine economy and any effects on the family project. If I'm not mistaken the target of the hotel would be foreigners so there is some insulation from the direct effects. Daniel alluded to tight times with the jam story, and I'm sure the family has weathered many cups and downs that have informed their trajectories. If not a full episode, I think it would be interesting to take a bit of a dive into the family history. Daniel can take that as his homework, if he can tear himself away from organizing the repurposed materials. 😄🤔

Can you give us the back story of the property? How did it come to be abandoned and left to decay for so long? Too bad someone (a caretaker) couldn't have been allowed to live there in exchange for maintaining it until you were ready to return. My cousin built a house in 1887 I spent summers growing up in i It was replete with what all the waterfront New England summer Victorian "cottages" had at the time except for what we decided to remove. But it was always lived in and gradually updated. However the carved wood work, flooring, stained glass windows, tile, marble sinks, fireplaces, wallpaper in certain rooms and original windows all still remain. So we never had to do the extent of work you are doing. I would make sure the wood and tile you want to reuse are actually reusable. Otherwise, perhaps you can select just a few of the best pieces and make a Medallion in the main entry hall/foyer floor; cover it with glass so when people walk on it , it won't wear down further, and preserve the history that way. I certainly would NOT use some of those old pots and pans to actually cook in since it looks like they are made mostly from aluminum. I would reuse those as containers for potted plants or hang them on the wall or put them on a shelf in the kitchen or somewhere as a decoration.
