I feel his loss palpably from time to time. I am a Vietnam veteran, strangely a linguist of North Vietnamese. I came home a pacifist finding 'home' in a Quaker meeting. It took a few years to find Thich Nhat Hanh. In the mean time we had sponsored Vietnamese boat people refugees in our home to begin. There I discovered Being Peace and the Miracle of Mindfulness. Forestry was my profession. Trees are a central part of my life as are wildflowers! Now we have lost Thay, he must bloom in many of us now. We need him desperately. Hoa Binh (peace).

11-3-2023 So grateful for That's beautiful, healing words and the gift of this teaching. Deeply grateful for the veteran's response also. I have PTSD from childhood experiences, and I sense that mindfulness is the door to being calm and aware, and it is always open. I am a retired teacher, 80 years breathing on earth, finally understanding how.

My husband was also a Vietnam Vet. He became a teacher because he saw what war does to children and wanted to do something to help change the world. He said it begins with the children. He taught in gang zones, teaching the forgotten and set aside children in USA. So, reading what you shared, touched me deeply. Thank you ☮️🕊️☮️

I sat down in the cool grass and enjoyed breathing and thanking the trees for their shade and oxygen. I enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels come closer to me. Then my border collie stretched out next to me and taught me how to stretch, relax and enjoy the sky and clouds! I have not felt this happy and peaceful for a long time!
