9:16 Another classic example of why the Zebra Crossing, an ancient relic from the 1930s should be abolished on busy roads and replaced with light controlled crossings. The Zebra crossing gives "entitled" pedestrians the right to step out whenever they want without any regard.
@rogueuniversities68662 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Most pedestrians who actually bother to use zebra crossings do actually look. It's the ones randomly jumping into the street like lemmings you have to worry about. And far too many light controlled crossings don't work properly, don't work at all, or are poorly timed (switching to red - and hence a green man for the pedestrians - immediately after a standard light around the corner gives the go-ahead to cars, at a junction, making drivers think the crossing lights are just the lights for the traffic going across the junction - hence they fly through the crossing lights). Also gives drivers too much of a sense of entitlement - meaning if the light is not on red for them, they ignore anyone who is on the crossing. Now on high speed roads, sure, should be light controlled crossings that actually work and are well-maintained, with warnings prior to them, and amber lights that actually activate for a decent length of time, but not on normal 30 mph roads.

Considering Josh hasn’t driven on these roads before, I thought he coped really well. It’s a shame he got a serious fault for starting to go when another pedestrian decided to make a run for it in the zebra crossing, as he didn’t actually go on the zebra crossing. But I suppose that’s how strict the driving assessor would be on the test. Good luck Josh, atleast you did experience how busy roads are in London and you can take away some real, good feedback.

@ClearviewDriving2 жыл бұрын
Yup!’ All these roads are 20mph in London 😅
@WorldwideHypercars2 жыл бұрын
Regarding the speeding at 8:17 I rewinded several times to see where I could see the 20mph sign but it was nowhere to be seen except only painted on the road on the oncoming late much later ahead. How would he have known about the new speed limit if there are no indications or am I missing something? even on the screen in the car, it says '30'
@ClearviewDriving2 жыл бұрын
Hey when you enter a new road, if the speed changes then it will be clearly sign posted on both sides of the road as a gateway sign. The small residential roads are 20mph and as we entered this road there’s no 30mph signs, so the same speed continues. The speed on the sat nav is no longer accurate (even on the Tomtoms that they use on test) as the speed limit on most the roads in London has now changed from 30 to 20 I also waited for him for notice the 20 signs and mentioned the speed limit after that point
@Shortyplayz2 жыл бұрын
@@ClearviewDriving it seems to be different where I’m from. I was told if there are no signs and there are street lights then it’s a 30 road

@rogueuniversities68662 жыл бұрын
I was just wondering why you don't seem to react much as an instructor? In the pedestrian crossing example, my instructor - I've passed now - would have hit the dual control brake, and in the serious use of mirrors example, he'd had noticed the car and grabbed the steering wheel
@ClearviewDriving2 жыл бұрын
Hey I would only grab the wheel if it’s absolutely necessary to save us from into a collision. Also with the pedestrian I said stop and he did But I would have braked if he didn’t The dual controls are only to be used when necessary, I don’t use them otherwise Even in the test the examiner would be the same, intervening only when it’s absolutely necessary :) I don’t want to make it dramatic where I scare the driver and make them feel they are being very dangerous He noticed the mistakes and will learn from them
@steve00alt702 жыл бұрын
Car drivers would be so much safer if they all had to do a mandatory test on a motorcycle first as part of their car license.

He shouldn’t have got a dangerous on the zebra crossing. You told Josh to stop and he did. So should only be a minor if not serious. Also why did you give him a serious for speeding?
@cristaljustice45342 жыл бұрын
Yeah but she shouldn't have to say that he should have figured it out himself
@nutritionperfection2 жыл бұрын
If you need a passenger to help you avoid running someone over, that's a dangerous fault. On the test the examiner is there as a passive observer not to instruct the driver on how to safely control the vehicle. The speeding was serious because of how far over he was.
@Shortyplayz2 жыл бұрын
If the examiner needs to step in be using controls or verbally tell you then it’s a serious fault
