So one question I have is. What problems would an animal made of a solid spherical ball of cells experience? My answer is that cells inside of the spherical ball would have a hard time receiving nutrients from the surrounding fluid, excrete waste, and exchange gases. and blastulation fixes this problem by increases the surface area to volume ratio as well as exposing cells to outside fluid.

Hello, I am also a medical student and these videos are amazing. You explain things very well and to the perfect level of detail. However, may I suggest that you either number your videos or tell viewers what video to watch next after the one they have just watched so they can follow the process. Ex: can you put all of the steps of the embryonic develop into order? Other than that, these are fantastic! Great job :)

shishi Rad Well, there is another process called as compaction that takes place, where all the cells of the morula are kept together by tight junctions and they communicate via gap junctions. In case, a cell separates, that cell can form another morula, thus forming twins (identical /unidentical) rarely! :)

16-58 is considered a morula, since a blastocyst is defined as 58. So that assumes that 16 cells up to 58 is called a morula. They undergo mitosis, so from 1 cell to 2 to 4 to 16 to 32. 16 and 32 both are called morula. Don't watch a whole video and take away one thing to criticize and leave a one sentence comment to just call that thing out Source is my med school notes, which I trust lol
