Both my sons are into parody music originating from various genres of music. They actually prefer them as their primary music and listen to it in their vehicles etc. I just never got into it...actually, I kinda abhor it. They also like spoof movies which I can't stand either. I classify these forms of comedy along with stand-ups like Steve Martin and Robin Williams as "goofy comedy". Not my thing, but to each his own. Put on some old Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, and even Bill Burr and I'm literally crying until my ribs hurt!

"Cleldus T. Judd" sounds like a country singer's alter ego who takes over when the comic material needs to be taken care off. I wonder if this is the original name of the artist featured here. There was an artist called Cledus Maggard (real name Jay Hugely) who sang country novelty tunes back in the 70's with his backing group The Citizens Band. There was another similar artist called Mayf Nutter who was on the scene around the same time. So we know there is a well established tradition in country music for comedy personas with stereotypical monikers. I guess it all started with legendary singers like Ferlin Huskey whose comic alter ego "Simon Crum" entertained audiences with his whacky songs back in the 50's and 60's. Cledus has a decent voice which possesses elements of John Anderson and Keith Whitley. This is a fun song and another excellent reaction/rating, Don, and keep rockin' that country

I think you got trolled here somehow, but that’s what’s great about it. Cledus stood out because he could usually do a pretty good imitation of who he was parodying. And if you want to look at it from another, more critical perspective, it wasn’t that hard because all of the stuff out of Nashville was sounding the same, hence the beginning and eventual rise of things like Red Dirt and the Texas scene.
