I'll admit a horrible secret for you all: I've done some interviewing for my job at Google, and there were a few times where a candidate was explaining some computer science concept that I had forgotten about or never gotten around to learning at university, and I just had to nod my head as I opened up another tab to Google what they were trying to do. People might get intimidated by interviewers, but you can become one after only being at the company for a year, just barely after they were in the candidate position themselves. I was in your shoes 2 years ago. During my first few interviews I did I was almost as nervous as the candidates, but it's not like you can just let them know that.

Great content. As one who is in progress with the interview process, I really value that google looks internally at their own process and doesn’t assume that any minor mishap is completely the fault/result of the candidate like many other places do. They def seem to consider all things as candidates progress through the process. 👍🏼

Unfortunately, some Google interviewers tend to start the interview in a very "cold" way. Like... "ok, if you're ready we can start" - and that's it. Question. Go! One of them did not even tell me his name, and when I asked for it he said: "Oh, ok. I thought it is written in google meet" (which replaces hangouts, btw). like... come on. When I was interviewing I always spent the first 30-60 seconds doing some chit-chat with the candidate, on anything in the world that is not related to the interview just to make them feel more comfortable. I think it's a must.

Hey Clem! Love your videos. I wanted to ask, how do you think interviewers typically weight an assessment between behavioral vs technical ability? 50/50? 30/70?
@NickKravitz4 жыл бұрын
I interviewed at Google at both Tribeca and Mountain View. Both had funny stories. For Mountain View, they flew me out from NYC, brought me into a huge room with equally large video screen. I was then interviewed via video conference from a software engineer from NYC. For Tribeca, they had me interview with 4 foreign male software developers wearing t-shirts. After that a nice fashionably dressed lady walked in; I assumed it was HR so I thanked her for the opportunity to interview at Google and started to gather my stuff. She was my 5th technical interviewer.

Hi clement, i have a question, is there any limit to the number of jobs we can apply for at Google in a year?, because I have seen in some companies they say you cannot apply more than 3 times for a position in a year, Facebook has that.
